I have a 1970 340 out of a cuda that I’m putting into my 73 charger. I’m trying to make it look like the original 318 that was in the car I.e. correct way to paint it etc. one thing I’m trying to find out is what kind of decals that would go onto the 73 RV-2 compressor. The data plates I found say up to 72. I have another 73 car with ac with the data plate but it’s build dates sep 72

If your wanting to be more accurate in replicating the 318, I’ll be happy to trade you my 318 for that 340

Paint the engine corporate blue (all motors 72 and up), put a single snorkel air cleaner on, and add the log manifolds. Of course the 4bbl will be a giveaway, but there's no getting around that unless you want to use a 500 CFM Holley 2300......

I have everything off my 318 I’m gonna put on it. Does the RV-2 have the data plate in 1973? I’ve almost finished the rebuild so now it’s to finishing details

I have a 73 340 Road Runner that came from the factory with A/C. I believe, but am not 100% sure, that this is the original A/C compressor. The decal on the top is a conversion decal (I converted it to R134a).

This metal plate is on the compressor. Underhood of the car is not accessible right now or I'd try to get you a better picture.

Hope this helps.

If you use the 318 intake manifold and carb, and if the original car was a single exhaust ( I know the 318 Roadrunner came with a dual exhaust, but I'm not sure if the Charger ever did) there's not going to be much gain with the 340. The 340's biggest advantage was it's ability to breathe, and if you choke the air flow, it's not going to preform as expected.

I have side pipes, I want it too look like the motor belongs in the car basically, so just like a 73 340 car and yes the 73 chargers did come with dual exhausts. This engine is far from stock, it’s a 373 with an RPM air gap, headers among other things but hardly anything external. I want it too look like an original engine so I’m painting the intake etc

What’s the build date on your roadrunner?

I had a 71 340 Duster engine that was painted blue, not orange, so as we say anything with Chrysler is possible. I still have the valve cover from it and it's blue. It was a late build because I bought it in Aug. of 71.

Awesome the little tag was the more important question I needed answered. Does anyone know if the EGR valve and the chrome heater are painted with the intake or not originally?
I've had the 73 since 1979, and I honestly can't ever remember seeing a EGR, so I can't answer your question. When we got the car in 1979, someone had converted the 340 to a 2 barrel carb and intake - I assume due to the gas crisis. The EGR was likely gone at that point already.

The 73 340 did not have a EGR valve, it had ports in the intake manifold floor to the heat crossover.
