Its a 1970 Belvedere small block, auto but I want the paint code can anyone help thx

That info is only on the fender tag or build sheet.

...RL21C is a 225 six cyl VIN.

Look again, the G for a 318 can look like a C.

If there's no fender tag or build sheet-

Is there factory paint under the hood, under the carpet, in the trunk, under the door cards, etc?

Pics of that might get you opinions from members.

Yes it’s a green color in the darker shade

I thought someone here was able to rebuild a fender tag from a VIN number ???

That's not the way it works.

Sorry.

Sorry. Our Kung Fu just isn't that strong. Within the Introduction sections of the Dealer Parts Book and Factory Service Manuals, there is a chart showing how the vehicle number is decoded.

But the Options Plate, Fender Tag or Body Code Plate has more detail. It's golden for understanding how the car was optioned from the factory, and a bummer when it's missing.

As a long shot, you may find an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, hidden somewhere in the interior. The Broadcast Sheet contains ever more detail, but is often missing after 50 years of car ownership.

If you're after the paint code, because you want to locate paint in the same color, you can surmise the code from this paint chip chart.

The fender tag, or “body plate” as it should be called, is a directive to alterations to the body before paint, it has very little to do with the actual VIN. True, the engine and trans callouts are on there, because they require different mounts between engine /trans choices. It mainly designated where holes need to be drilled, brackets need to be welded, or different structure where an option may need it. Case in point… the radio is on the body plate, because it needs a hole for the antenna. Making a new body plate is not possible without the broadcast sheet, to designate exactly what options the car originally came with.

I will say tho that if you like it and want to add anything to your car, you can certainly do whatever makes you happy, and nobody can argue with that!
