wiring pains

If your insurance covers your truck, I would get it fixed and keep it if they don't total it out. It looks like it's in good condition and like Budnicks said, you should get be able to go another couple of hundred thousand miles with the Cummins. It seems like you always need a truck if you don't have one. Good luck.

i really don't see how the insurance is going to cover this. if it was burnt down to the ground, maybe, but not just a wiring harness melt down. its like if you blew a tire and it took one of your outer fenders over the duals out its your problem.
wiring is a pain in the *** but fixable. you could probably buy the whole wiring system at a wreckers for well under a 1000.00 due to the year of the truck. then the fun begins. its probably easier to replace the whole system than putting patch's to it. luckily i have a couple of buddies that are good at it and we barter off. by the condition of the truck and it did fire up i would say fix it. its just getting broke in on that engine.
good luck bud.:eusa_think:

They came and looked at it today and it's being sent to a repair shop tomorrow i'm hoping they can fix it,but if they total it i'll find something else. I would figure if they were not gonna cover it they would have told me that right off, matter of fact when i spoke with them i asked that very question and they are proceeding with the process [hopefully i don't get screwed] so i have to go with the flow and see what they are gonna do. And if a tire blew and took out a fender you bet your *** i would file a claim weather or not they paid,i been with these guys for 23 years with one claim on an rv that was denied due to normal wear and tear so i'm gonna try again.

I voted for the A-100. Of the group, it has to presently be the rarest. Plus, I've always had an affinity for vans. Since I was 16 years old, I've always had a van and another vehicle. The Other vehicles have been mostly Mopar A,B, and C bodies, and Dodge trucks, and a few others thrown in, but I've always had a van, too.

I'm now 62 years old (at lest for the next few months) and I have:
Two Swingers 71 and 72.
One Chevy Silverado pick up - 2000 Reg cab Long bed LS-1500
One GMC pick up, 2008 Crew cab SLT-1500
3 Ram Pickups, 2007 Ext. Cab 2500, 2010 Crew Cab 2500 dually, and a 2012 Crew cab 3500 dually. All are Cummins diesels.

...and a Ford van 1994 5.8L auto, Chateau Club wagon.

Can't see how anyone can get along without a van. ;)

I personally don't like vans BUT the A100s are my all time favorite i would like a pickup but this van is a v8/auto which is in my opinion a rairity [most are slantys w 3 speeds] plus i need to be able to carry passengers as this will be a daily driver the other thing it has going for it the seller has replaced the timing chain, radiator, waterpump, hoses, all new brakes, brake lines, filters ect. Everything has been done that i would have done so it is more favorable than the others in my opinion.

all depends on your policy as to weather or not they fix the truck.i deal with adjusters all the time at the shop, and they can be cool or they can be jerks.all depends on how he writes it up.good luck!

Got any more pics of that D100? That looks to be damn nice, hard to find them that nice up north.

The guy i spoke with was an older guy [according to my wife who saw him] and he seemed like a pleasent fellow and complemented me on the care i took of my truck so i'm hopeing he is the nice type of adjuster, but i have not met him face to face so you can never tell.

I,m curious what kind of insurance pays to fix mechanical stuff. I know if it burned they would or if it was wrecked but I dont think mine does repairs. With my insurance I would probably get the bill to fix it.Just asking what kind of claim you file.Is it your comprehensive?

Honestly i'm not sure,it was an electrical fire in the engine compartment contained to the main power supply and adjacent harness. I originally was gonna try to fix it myself but after thinking about it i called to see if it was covered under my full coverage and they have came to the house to look at it and had it towed to a garage for futher inspection as of right now i'm waiting for their decision on what is gonna happen i spoke with the mechanic whom said they came and looked today and he too is waiting on them. I suppose it's comprehensive part of the policy.

Wow Buddy sorry about the truck. But I'm loving that older dodge 100 That truck looks sweet
