Hi everyone, I am new to online searching/buying so I could really use some help.
I am possibly going to have an opportunity to buy parts though this site, problem is with all the different scams that go on everywhere these days, I need to know how I can go about a private sale with security to both me and the seller.
Any knowledge/advice from those of you that have done it??
Thanks :)

Buy from someone who is a regular on the site and use paypal or your credit card to pay. US mail and a check as well is secure as its mail fraud but takes a lot longer. But the biggest thing is buying from people who are regulars. paypal and a cc company and you can recoup your money pretty easily. Its still a risk.. you could always use a third party administrator/arbitrator and I would do it for you.

You send me the money and I send it to him when you get your parts and are satisfied. OR He sends me the parts and you send me the money and I do the exchange. OR someone else.. I use me as an example
That type of thing.

Also, if you use Paypal, send the money as a friend or family, instead of buying something. It will save the seller from being charged a 2.9% fee. If you're selling, tell them to do it also.

Personally I sell with the requirement that they send me a money order. Realistically there is not much safety for them but I am not worried about that as much as protecting myself. I personally don't like or trust paypal so this is about the only way I do it.

This is how I always do any transaction with someone, I'm not totally familiar with... if your selling something, then don't ship anything until you absolutely know the funds/money is in your hands or the check/s have cleared both yours & the buyers accounts... or visa versa if your the buyer, expect the same thing... the only way to be safe as a seller, as a buyer your a little more volnerable... my $0.02 cents

Just participate for a while. That'll give you the chance to see who the good guys are on here and give US a chance to know you ain't full of ****. I like Paypal OR a Postal money order. Paypal has great buyer protection, PLUS with a Postal money order, if the seller does not hold up their end of the bargain, guess what? That's called mail fraud and it's a FEDERAL OFFENSE. Oh snap.

Try to go with a seller that has been into your brand and year range of parts you are looking for a long time and is trusted for knowing the correct parts . By all means watch out from who and what you buy from E-Bay. I see more incorrectly listed and inaccurate parts/year/model application parts for sale there than any where. If you see a part being listed as fits 67-76 watch those especially as many Mopar parts only fit one year or model of Mopar correctly. Do your homework and research before you buy.

One thought about a paypal reccomendation
If you are going to ask me as a buyer
Or ask a seller to help cheat paypal?
Would I trust you not to cheat me?
Not in this lifetime.
BIG RED FLAG!

If you click on the person's username, it will let you send them a private message. Discuss with the other person how you want to send/receive payment. Then when you are satisfied with the arrangements, then you can finish it and hopefully both you and the other party will be happy. If you have any questions you want answered privately, just send a private message to any of the many members here and we will be glad to answer them (myself included).

I dont agree with you much but I do here. If you send the money as a gift you are voiding your protection from ebay as a buyer to I think. Its better to compensate them for the paypal fee then give up your rights

I use paypal and over all I have been really happy with it. It gives both buyer and seller some security. Plus it is an easy way to transfer funds, sending money as a gift or as a transaction, depending on what person wants.
