I have a 1964 sport fury and I want to put a 440 in it. I'm having issues finding the right motor mounts and steel mounts. I want to use my 64 kframe and I'm using a 1969 440. Is it even possible to do it this way? My dad and I have been tinkering on it for about 2 weeks and we can't seem to get it right. We bought rubber mounts for the 64 k frame and we are trying to use the 1969 steel mounts that came with the engine. When we try to put the 2 pieces together, the new rubber we bought hits the oil dipstick on the drivers side. I guess I'm asking how you guys have worked around it if you have tried to retro fit one together like we are? Would I have to buy 1964 wedge mounts to pair with 1964 rubber mounts?

You need to get the steel mounts from a 63 to 65 b body big block there is a guy that repops them or put an add on here for parts wanted.

That's the only option we haven't tried and it does seem to make the most sense. Thanks for helping us out with the info!

I've got pretty much the same set-up.

64 Sport Fury, 69 model 440, and mounting a 67 model 727.

Should I assume a big block came out of the car? If so, got it whipped. On my deal, pulled a busted 383 out, robbed the mounts and mount brackets off the 383...and bolted them right to the 440. (The oil stick tube bolts to one of the bracket bolts.) If you pulled a 383, you can also consider using the oil pan of it, for the 440.

Only issue I had was trans mount. Modified my 64 crossover, moving the mount 'box' 1/2" to the rear, for the later year 727, using a 73 A body trans mount (think that's right).

Before jumping the gun, you need to identify what engine was originally in the car. If it was a big block that makes things much easier. However, if it was a slant 6 or wide block 318 the "K" member isn't the same and you'll need a different set of mounts to stick a 440 in there. If it didn't have a big block originally then check with Schumacher Creative Services http://www.engine-swaps.com/ and you'll find what you need there.

Or, be done with it, and change out the K frame. They can be found.

The k-member for V-8 engines are all the same for 1964, from 318 to 426. Slant six K is different.
The engine mounts are different from small blocks to big blocks, but the rubber insulators (V-8) are the same.

You're absolutely correct. My bad.

Ordered some mounts and they came in today. Thanks guys for the inside info!
