I'm part wat into replacing the dashpad on a 74 RR/Sat and on the passenger side the part of it that goes parallele to the door has a stud with a bolt on it.
On the outside there is the metal dash frame and on the inside (closest to the driver) there is a metal support bracket leaving only about an inch to work with. Only to help matters there is a metal support about 3 or 4 inches away twoards the front of the car and of course the dash pad on the side facing the interior.
How in the hell am I supposed to get that out?!?!?!?!?!???.
I do not need the old one and I might tear it up.
But I would really hate to tear up a part that someone else could possably use some day, someone is bound to need that core and they aren't making those parts any more.
I really do not want to ruin it even if I end up giving it away.
Oh great swamie please save me many hours.
Thank You

pictures are worth a thousand words... help me help you :D hehehehe always wanted to say that.

The service manual only states to remove nuts thru glove box opening and from under dash. Nothing about specific locations. I don't recall a problem with that nut when I R&R the pad on the '73. The one on the left end was the tough one. Depending on how much you are taking the dash apart, you might consider removing the dash frame or just rotating the top back. Just a thought.

Yep looks like I'm going to have to do that. Boy Howdy I thought the one on the right was bad, that is until I found the one on the left.
I could allways hope that someone had found a better way than completely gutting the whole front of the car.
Time and time again I find out that doing something the right way is rarely the easy way.
Now if I can figure out how much to disassemble with out doing unnessecary disassembly and making much more work.

Thank You very much

It basically involves pulling the windsheild, if I understand (need pics). Dropping the column, pulling all the a/c crap out....

Well I did not have to pull the windshield, but that was about the only thing I did not have to pull out.To get the dash frame I had to pull the kick panels to get at the bottom bolts. The speaker cover was the first thing that came out and under thewre are the top bolts for the dash frame.
Then dang near all of the interior moulding and even some out of my truck just for good measure. to get the A pillar first the top of the windshield trim then both sides along the side windows. Then the A pillar then the frame rotated out.
I got the A.C/heater bezel at MR Gs locally but he only had gauge bezels in all chrome-not yet painted and his painter is gone, I guess retired. So I gusee the guage bezel will go to gcar but I'm still undecided on that one. Suggestions?
Also I need one ac vent bezel/louver assy. The fine young man who had her took modeling glue and glued one louver in place.
I am so not going to spend nearly a thousand dollars on a dash pad, restoring all of the plastic trim parts and days of blood, sweat and beers and have a dadgum stuck louver.
Anybody got one? Shine does not matter I have the louver frame that is rechromed I just need to strip one down and use the guts.

Thank You Best to Y'all
