Never enough time!

Does it ever seem like there is always at least 3 things in front of what you really want to do. I’ve been busier that a cat covering up crap just trying to get improvements and repairs done to the house because of Hurricane Sally, the RV and boat. What I really want to do (work on my car), keeps getting pushed to the back of the line.

I did put an addition on the shop, (much needed) but the month and then the 2 weeks rearranging everything just seems to take so much time. Getting older isn’t helping any I know. I’m getting rid of my boat, 40’ of waxing, varnishing and general maintenance I hope to get rid of. More car time.

Been retired a lot of years and always found time to do the things that I wanted to do but lately seems to be getting harder. I marvel at the scope of some of the projects that people are getting done on FBBO. Makes me jealous and feeling lazy. My hats off to those who tackle the big projects.

Like you, I've got my share of house repairs.
Cars are what you pour your heart into.
Houses (garages) are what protects those
ambitions.

^^^ This comes with age. Just had a nice sit down with a buddy of mine over drinks and we had this subject.
We were both on the same page that for some reason we can make it to about 2-3 'oclock and just run out of steam.

Finances dictate I continue to work, even at my advanced age, so time spent on the car is considered a blessing. All my friends have moved away so it’s a one man job. Good thing is, it’s just me and the car. No outside distractions and no job BS to deal with. Almost like therapy. Not that the Belvedere doesn’t hassle me at times, but at least it’s appreciative, I hope. Bringing an old car back to life is a task, but one that is so rewarding. I often wonder if our cars can feel the love we have for them and look forward to the time we spend with them. I understand it’s an inanimate object, but one has to wonder.

My neighbor has alot of "toys" i swear hes always waxing, cleaning the boat, atv, go cart... So much time in just cleaning!

Retired two years ago and thought I'd have all the time in the world to do car stuff. As it turns out, there isn't as much extra time available as I thought, mostly because I am so relaxed that I do everything a half speed now.

Sounds like you have it figured out: Get rid of the stuff that is dragging you down and just keep at it. Even at half speed and taking a few side roads, if you keep moving you will still get there!

Based on my pre-retirement pace of life, I thought I'd be putting this in primer this summer, but I spent a month helping out a pal on a house remodel for ADA accommodation instead. This morning, had a beer with breakfast just because I felt like it. Projects will still get done. Life is good.

I am there also. Oldest boy just graduated. I am an assistant trap coach. Middle boy is in marching band. Youngest boy plays baseball. All 3 shot trap. Along with all of that my house is in full remodel by me of course. I just keep picking away.

My biggest motivator is some health problem stopping me. A client in better shape and younger than me died from covid last year so I keep thinking “if I get covid or cancer or who knows I won’t be able to do This etc” but it’s still hard. I admire a lot of the guys that finish stuff and don’t give up too with everything going on

I have thought about retirement. I'm 63 but do not really want to at this point.
As long as my health holds up good I will keep working.
I have a few after hrs projects that come and go and like you guys i find now they take longer to complete when i am on my own time and not a customer.
Just going to keep on going for now and see what the next few years bring. Lol.
