New 65 Dodge Coronet

Ok I have the tank drained.... What should I be looking for in it? Is there something I can utilize in the tank to prevent having to replace it? I have used the POR15 products before and have been happy with them. Has anyone used the tank sealer they sell?

So for an update... Santa brought me a new fuel tank for the car. Unfortunately he forgot to bring the fuel neck gasket and a new fuel tank sending unit. Going to check a few local part stores to see if they have or can order. I was also given a Canvas Car Port to set up over the car to keep it out of the weather some.

Before you try to start the car there are a couple things you need to do. First.. pull the plugs and put a pry-bar on the crank damper nut and try to rotate the crank. If you can move it then the motor isn't frozen. If you can't rotate it at all then you'll need to put more mystery oil in the cylinders and let it sit a week or so and try again. Don't try to crank the engine if its frozen as all you'll do is ruin the starter and/or the flex plate. If you can't get it un-stuck then you'll have to pull the engine and do a rebuild....hope that isn't the case.

Once your sure it isn't stuck, change the points and condenser, coil and plugs and wires. You'll also probably need to have the carb rebuilt too. While you're replacing the tank, replace all the rubber fuel lines and blow out the metal lines. Finally, change the oil and filter and give it a try.

I had a 64 1/2 Barracuda with the 273 2bbl motor and it was a good reliable engine. It won't be a powerhouse in a "B" body but will move it around just fine for a daily driver.

Good luck and I hope it starts on the first try.

Ok....finally the show is gone and I can work on the car. I installed the new tank and fuel sending unit, replaced fuel filter and rubber hoses coming off filter and off fuel sending unit. I put in a little gas, and tried to get it to fire, but no luck yet. I don't see fuel coming through the fuel filter, I think would be able to see it in there? Any other ideas or things I should check? Is there a way to test the fuel pump? Any advice is appreciated. I am going to look at a rebuild kit for the carb.

You might have to replace the fuel pump! I would prime the oil system before you try starting it! getting the inside lubed up (bearings, oil pump, lifters etc)! After that pour a little gas in the car not much now! If it fires up it might prime the fuel pump.

Had to replace the pump....wow what a pita to get to. Car turned over nicely after the new pump. Let it idle for about ten minutes, temp seemed good and all gauges are working.

Ok guys. A few questions. One - The blower motor isn't working, any typical fixes or ideas of where I should start to check for things?
Two - When car was idling I would randomly hear a faint beep. I know this is a long shot, but any ideas? Three- How do you open the ash tray? I can't get it to budge.

Found the build sheet! Pulled the back seat up today to see if I could find mounting points for rear seat belts. Sure enough under the back seat is the build sheet.

Can anyone give me tips on decoding the build sheet? I want to get new carpet, interior for the car, but want it original color.

Looks like a good driver once you get it all functioning. We have the same interior but my car was originally the Gold Poly color, it's a root beer metallic color with a white vinyl top. You have the radio and console clock which I am missing. https://www.themoparshop.com/shop/userDocs/options.pdf this may help with decoding
