just finished puttin the cam bearings in my 68 383. question is, should i be able to turn the cam by hand? with one of the head bolts screwed in the end of the cam it turns very easily with wrench, but cant quite turn it by hand. it went in the tunnel really nicely, all the oil holes are lined up.

Use a bearing scraper or a knife and scrape the tight spots that you should be able to see after turning the cam a few times

Put the cam sprocket on, and if it turns by hand, you are good to go.
