New from AMD

The only reason making these inner structural pieces would make sense, is that whole Charger bodies are the final plan.

Never heard anything from Mark saying that AMD wasn't doing anymore Mopar stuff, but I did here that they were going to purge the pieces that weren't moving. They recently released 73/74 Charger rear quarter panels not that long ago. A much needed part!
I heard the same thing about purging items that don’t sell too well.

That could be a very good possibility considering how hot the 68-70 Charger market is. I didn’t pay much attention how the Mopar community accepted the Challenger rebodies but I’d expect a cry foul reaction. How do you even title rebodies?

The Mopar community might cry foul, but the picking is getting thin on Chargers and there is definitely a market for new Charger bodies. If you buy a Charger carcass that needs every panel AMD sells, for too much money on the initial purchase, then have to pay a shop to replace all the pieces, it would be cheaper to just buy a new body even at 25k.

According to Dynacorn who makes Camaro, Mustang and tri five Chevy bodies ViN numbers can be installed on the new bodies as they are sold as replacement parts.

Hmmm… Chevy and Ford guys been swapping Vins for decades anyways. I know it happens to Mopars also. I think if they ever made a Charger shell they couldn’t keep ‘em in stock.

They did a 57 Chevy on the Fantom Works show, and more recently a 69 Camaro on Kindigs show. According to Dan a 20 inch section of the original body around the VIN Tag has to be grafted into the new body to make it legal. A state issue VIN tag is also an option like one would do on a kit car,if someone wasn't concerned about numbers.

I knew a guy back in the day who had a 70 Challenger, and he would just swap out the dash pad from one Challenger to another rather than go to the Registry of Motor Vehicles and deal with paperwork titles and taxes! That dash pad was in atleast 10 different Challengers that I know of! Lol

He would bolt the pad back into the car with only the easily accessible bolts holding it on,so it would be ready to swap into the next Challenger easily.
