Crazy paint huh?

car is a Lynch road product, 383 & a 4 speed, the fresh air hood is original to the car as it the eng & trans. The interior has survived 4 decades as well.

Original paint color is T7 9that dark bronze color) with a vinyl top.

She's a good strong runner, healthy engine all original except for the cam, dual exhaust with a crossover tube & a pair of flowmasters, tires are new, wheels are in good shape. It's a power steering car and it holds the road really nice, the non power drum brakes work really good too.

I guess mostly what it needs is some body/paint work, a new vinyl top and some weatherstripping.

I'm planning on going back to the original dark bronze metalic. this old paint job complete with acid trip murals and pulse-panel orange stripes is signed & dated 1976 by the painter.

I'm here to learn, I'm a car guy, I do my own body, paint & mechanical work & I've done several projects over the years but this is my first Mopar.

If my memory serves me right there was a white 69 RR in one of the Hot Rod Magazines LONG AGO (maybe a cover car?) painted like this or very similar and it had a huge parachute blown out the black in the shot on the street??? Could this be that car?

Look like a pretty nice bird and all there "Bonus" and solid....VERY NICE FIND!

I wouldn't mind seeing some closeups of the artwork. I was around a lot of automobile artwork back in the day and my son and I had a custom shop a few years back, my son being the artist. (Kinda have a passion for it!)

I'll see what I can do. It's got a big damn cartoon roadrunner on the hood too with the words "Beep Beep" painted neer the hood vents

It is on the hood that we found "hamilton autobody" the signature "vilio" and the date "76"

Online searching I found a body shop still in business today in Iowa called hamilton autobody, and get this, up the road just a few miles from the hamilton autobody shop there is a business called vilio custom paint and design.

So, with my amerature detective work I'm assuming this bird once resided in Iowa and a person named Vilio once worked at the hamilton autobody shop.

cool huh?

That is Cool. Heck you never know Vilio might still be around!

That's the cool part about owning some of these cars, they always have a neat story that comes along with them too! Seems to me you're having too much fun with this one! :)

Oh I'm having fun alright, it will all be fun and games until the 8 3/4" breaks

Hey, I'm going to give Vilio custom paint a call & see if there is a guy named vilio still around....

I think the paint and the keystones are awesome , If i were you i would drive the hell out it and keep it like that as a time capsule for a while before you restore it

what a great car and conversation piece

oh and welcome

I just talked to who I am assuming is the owner of hamilton autobody in Titonka IA, I said "I have kind of a strange question, I'm wondering if you have anybody working in the shop that was around back in 76?"

He laughed and said "well, I've been here since 73..."

I explained what I had & he told me all about Vilio (who I have yet to reach), He gave me his e-mail address and I agreed to send him some pictures of the old bird his shop painted 34 years ago.

I dunno I kinda think if it was mine I would touch up the art work and refinish the rest of the body as it was in white...but that's me LOL and it has survived for 34 years.

There was a guy nick named "weasel" who had a 69 RR in root beer metallic and had the desert scene air brushed down the both entire sides of the car, it sat high and had a 6 pack hood on it with Cragars and ran the streets of Youngstown from the early 70's-80's and then disappeared.

Huh, that's funny, we named our daughter "weasel" but she rolls in this little ford I built for her

Ok maybe her real name isn't weasel but it's been her nickname since she was a baby lol!!

I'm starting to believe...

I was just thinking.... this crazy bird was painted in 76, when I was 6 years old.

Now I have the bird.....

And my youngest boy, "mini me" exact replica of myself....

Is 6 years old.

lol!!

I think ....

I think I'll drink to that! Happy Friday everybody!!!

Hey, I just got an e-mail reply from a guy that had a hand in this paint job 34 years ago. He thanked me for pictures of the car I sent him, he remembered the car.

Wished me good luck in the restoration.

Interesting. I recently got a 65 Stang coupe for my better half. It's a 289 stick car. "I've" currently got 2 69 runners sans murals.

I'd leave it as is

My daughter's coupe is a cali car (produced, sold & lived most of it's life out there)

289 A code with an auto. power steering, nice driving car. She loves it.

Your wife's stang, is it a 3 or 4 speed? Stick would be cool.

Do you have to restore or is she good to go?

Hey I'll post this for you since you just got into a 65 stang, you might find it interesting.

It's a thread about the restoration of our daughter's little coupe.

Fully functional speedo. and tac. too!

Who's behind the camera? :)

cam is wedged under the passenger headrest lol!!

The tach needle moves but it has no meaning, it reads crazy high.
