Greetings to you all,

I've been lurking for awhile and figured it was high time I introduced myself and gave a general thanks to all of you who participate in this forum. I've gleaned a lot from you guys and as soon as I come up with some extra cash I'll be investing in more "go fast" products.

First I will start with the basics. Name's Andrew, live in Washington state, 45 times around the sun and been wrenching since before I had my license. Current project is a '62 Dart with a 440 w/ported 346's (?). Came with an edelbrock performer cam and I put a Holley 770 on top of a torker intake. Bought the engine from Year One years ago and their vendor has withered away so I don't know if it's been bored out or not. Got a dyno sheet from them rated @ 425hp. Open exhaust through max wedge manifolds and 3.55 gears out back. Best so far was 12.9.

Question is, being that I don't go to the track regularly should I still consider putting a larger oil pan on. Thought about an 8qt. from mancini with pick up. Thought?

Thanks again and I get some photos up soon. I know how we all like photos.

Andrew welcome to the race...LOL... sounds like a fun car, it never hurts to have a larger oil capacity & good oiling system, it's money well spent... I have a Milodon 8qt. 7" deep {shallow for a race type pan} on my 68 RR & with a windage tray, pan has a trap door in the bottom by the baffle to, like $180 for the pan & pick-up IIRC... Milodon HV oil pump, dual K&M filters too... it's a little deep for street use, but not as bad as some pans, that they are usually at-least 1" deeper, IMHFO it's a good pan for a milder combo... Mancini Racing is a great place to deal with... good luck with your 62 Dart...

Ahh yes the HV oil pump. I was just reading that thread about the HV and HP oil pumps. I suppose the old saying "it's better to have too much than not enough" would apply here. Y'think?
