New guy with 65 Belvedere II checking in!

It's good from a distance. Rust in the rear quarters and wheel wells. Not sure when I'll be able to have the metal fixed. Just trying to get it driving right now.
"Better run than done" is a great motto to have sometimes sir!!!

You get that MOPAR going, and enjoy every minute you are behind the wheel!!!
Trust me on this one, people will see it and enjoy it, never the less!!!

Us classic car owners are too critical on our rides most times...
what we see and want to fix right now, the general public looks at the overall package, and it takes them back to the fond memories from their past, and they enjoy the experience of just seeing our cars out being driven.
We have too many trailer queen, restored beyond reason & belief, numbers matching this & that MOPARS in this world, and nobody gets to see them because they are tucked away in someones garage or museum.....I understand their value, and the effort in a restoration, the cost involved,
and all that, but cars were meant to be seen and driven!

unrestored , hotrodded , your car , your way . did a letter car show here once , drove my 64 300k h/t . just a driver mind you . they put as in the parade going down main street with marching band n the works , drove us into the show . put us on display with although t/q's . was a few drivers . but garaged in bags types . we had a great time . and looked at them all , polishing them like crazy for points and ranking . we'were snubbed , the car had vintage american torq thrusts on it . but they were snubbing the guy that drove his 65 l 413 long ram 4spd car , because his car wasn't oem . the guy put another engine in it to keep the original one freasher longer . he drove from upper ny state to sf bay area california ,

Hate it when people just don't get it, some wouldn't know a true muscle car, if it ran over them!
Love your "Utiline" sir!
This is the next project on my list....'66 Swepty, swb, 440-727 combo, "just the way it is" exterior, took a long time for mother nature to get the color just right!!!

Are they both CA trucks, so no rust?
I sold this one last year....too much rust for me to repair.
Do you come across the crew cabs very often?
I have always told myself, one day I'm going out west and buy me a rust free crew cab!!!

You have an awesome collection going on out there!!!
I love the crew cab, 61-71 sweptlines....but most if not all them here on the east coast are rotted badly. Maybe one day, I'll get out there (WEST) and find me one.
I guess you are also on the sweptline.org forum?
Once again, you have an awesome collection!!!
I will PM you once I tear into my 66 truck, I'm sure you can answer some/any questions I may have....never tried to put one of these together yet.

no i haven't joined that site yet . and on a sweptline thought . i purchased a short swept box for my 72 , and grabbed a few nos sets of taillight lenses , got a cherry grille for the 72 as well . i'm thinking a 413 ind with a loadflite out of a class a motor home for it . la's don't do it for me . a b or rb makes so much better torque . my collection is too much for one guys life . but you know , whats a hoard without excess , lol ;)

Do you actually know how many you do have?
You are driving me crazy with all these cool Dodge trucks!!!:realcrazy:
I'd love to walk through your yard and spend hours just admiring all this american history art work you have collected...don't know of any other place I could see all these Mopars at one time.

thanks , my shop is a time machine as well . my dad built it with my grandpa and my uncle in 1955 . my dad worked it until about 1991 when my mom passed . tuck the wind from his sails you could say , but he's 86 now and still given me **** about building hotrods . so i know he's good for a few more . i was painting cars n truck before i was driving . now 62 in a couple months . i've thinned the heard a bit . and still got more projects then i can finish , but thats okay in my book , lol . you know i've got muscle cars as well , and i'm into racing vintage stuff as well . and you ask if i realize what i've got , yes i do . but its still fun to dig in and pull something out . to get a new idea going , lol . din din is calling , out for now .

Keep on keeping on sir!
I think it's awesome with all you have collected and enjoy it everyday, as I'm sure you do!
Sounds like oil & gasoline have been running through your veins from the beginning.
Maybe you can talk your Dad into building a few more, he helped get it all started right!
Thank you for all the photos, great to see someone who has the same passion about the American Iron!

my dad , never like race cars or hotrods . he says they always are breaking thing and getting crashed . but if its a stock resto . he'd like the resolt , not the labor pains , lol . he built wrecks , roll overs , side swiped very new cars back in his hay day . he was know to drive as for as la county from the sf bay area . to get late model body sections to fix the wrecks . i was a 52 buick i think , to pay the hospital bill when i was born in 55 . so yes i'm an united state of america born car guy . its great to be able to collect this pile of parts and cars . thanks for your support for my efforts .

Dad is right about them breaking stuff....he sounds like a wise man. You have my support sir, keep saving them cars & trucks from the people that would crush them and buy new plastic junk. We have to stand for something, or we'll fall for anything...as the country song says. I enjoyed the photos of your collection, very impressive indeed. Always feel welcome to post photos of your projects, I enjoy seeing what everyone is working on.

Nice....440+6 pack...WOW!
Trying to figure out the front suspension & steering system.
Does it have the original frame, that you boxed, then added some type of 4 link system?
Am I also seeing disc brakes?
Looks like a manual steering gear box from a car?

thats a large output shaft power box chrysler type car or van . yes those are chevy spindles with gm rotors n calipers , but there a little small in dia , so i'm putting 75 d series rotors 11.75 dia , the chevy pickup rotors are 11.88 dia . was going to put all chrysler brakes , but the calipers are to thick and hit my rims weight . yes its a dropped tube axle with four bar and a pan hard rod and coilovers . and that is a 69 6pck setup with mods .
