New here. 64 polara project

Hey all. New here on the site. I have always been a Ford guy, but have always liked the old polaras. Well I came across one that has been sitting in a barn since 86. Pulled it out last weekend and So the project begins. Like I said I have always been a Ford guy so will be dropping in from time to time for some help and your input from time to time. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Hi, welcome to the 64 Dodge world of excitment. Mine was cleaner than this when I got it. I drove it home under its own 318 power. I had tons of metal work to do. Floor repairs, lower quarters, lower legs, some trunk work. Now its all painted and looks good with its 64 Dodge 426 wedge engine (+0.060") and Cope Racing push button trans in place. Engine runs great. I need to get body back together but my back decided to go south so I await surgery. Then I'll get back to it and finish it.

Have fun with yours, post progress pics.

Well after several days and lots of hours. I got all the interior stripper and mouse/rat nesting out of it (I think), and got her parked in her new spot to start stripping it down. It definitely took awhile to get it power washed lol.

Looks great! Mine is now white too.

Well I haven't done to much more to the car in awhile. Got it completely stripped. Dash out, everything is off with the exception of the axle and front suspension, so I can move it around the shop. Surprisingly the floors look almost new so not much work there. Outside has some rot so will be some pretty good repairs there. I picked up a 440 with a 727 for it today. So anxious to get to the engine build part, but will be awhile yet. I will most likely do away with the push button transmission just cause of the difficulty I have had finding a big block transmission with cable shift for a reasonable price. Plus the engine I just bought had a transmission with it. I picked up the whole dash kit off a manual car so that takes care of the push buttons in the dash if I stay the route I am thinking, but who knows I am always changing my mind lol. The Mopar stuff has definitely been a learning curve. I have messed with Ford's my entire life, so it's been fun learning new stuff. New builder engine on the right. The old poly on the left

I am just in the process of finishing my 64 Polara. If you need any help or advice let me know. It has been a long road looking for parts. Very unlike restoring a 64 Chevy that is for sure. Bill

Glad to here you are getting closer to being done. You will enjoy the ride you have built. I'll be glad just to get four wheels on mine lol.

I might as well ask on here also if any of you 64' Polara guys have a complete steering wheel and also need front turn signal assemblies.

Dan headed to a swap meet Sunday. I will look for what you need. Problem is Mopar parts far and few. Have you looked at Kramer's

No, not yet but it looks like i'll have to. The roller i got was pretty complete but had fiberglass race weight bumpers and no front turn signals ,also had old beat up Grant wheel .

I got the glass bumpers also I installed turn signals in it looks pretty good. As for the steering wheel I'm trying to restore mine.

Hey Wtrfwl havoc I'm trying to send you a PM about your '64 4-door, but your mailbox is full. Can you shoot me a PM? Thanks!

Just came across this thread. Looks like a nice solid car you have there. Good luck with the build.

Well naturally I like it.. Found this 64 Polara 500 back in April and purchased it. It was in very good condition. I restored a 65 Ford Mustang and although I loved doing it, I did not have a desire to do another complete restoration. Good luck with your project. BTW Got my drivers license in mom's 64 Dodge Polara (4 Dr sedan) ..
