new max wedge intake

You did not run that did you Mike ?? I did not think the areo scoop is legal in any NSS group ? Ron
wow awesome performance. going back in time to mid 70's a California racer- Dick Boyington(sp) ran a '68 Charger with 440, torqueflite, I dont know the gears. it had frame tied on one side only, roll bar and really no attempt to lighten.his claim to fame was the tarantula manifold with a 5/8" spacer under the carb. the car ran consistent 10.30/s at over 130. the Rettig Bros would have details about dicks care I'd think. dick is no longer with us.

Ron, No, the Harwood Aero scoop is not ok with the AFX / Nostalgia Group here in California. That is the reason I had to spend a buncha bucks on a new 5" Hemi Style Scoop.
While I was doing it I not only bought the scoop but also bought a real lite weight pin on Hood. I had a fiberglass hood but it was more of a "street" weight and hinged...it was pretty heavy.
I bought the pin-on style lite weight hood and then fabbed some mounts for my hood hinges so I could just use Hood Pins (4) on the front only and lift it up as a hinged style.

that looks awesome color me envious. I note the elephant ear engine mount is one piece, that is the only way to make them, two pieces just leak and fail.I have a pattern to make that one piece B body/A body mount, soon as I have the $$ I'm going to get materials and have one made or make it.

maybe you can school me on Holleys. I had teh correct, new original Hollys on the hemi cross ram, it ran awesome on the street- but with a sudden misstep while driving it sounded like it was missing, plugs/coil/ignition OK, from then on when I'd try t o accelerate it was very sluggish, disappointing for a hemi. never found the reason, power valves perhaps? its why I stay with carters, they do not perform like holley but also not as cantankerous.

i have heard original race hemi holleys run rich and was told to stay away from them unless racing,,,but i'm going to start with the power valves,,no throttle,in gear, brake applied, measure vacuum,,need a valve half the measured vacuum to avoid a rich condition..if its 5",,need a 2.5 power valve,,then on to the accelerator pumps, shooters, and last but not least jets after a trip down the road,,,these r 600 cfm double pumpers..

thank you, I got the carbs from Ray Barton NOS in the box from early 70s?
they ran awesome on the street for many miles and a long time, I drove from Sacramento to Van Nuys for the Springfling mopar show, on the way home it stumbled and never recovered. I chased everything I knew and dared to do with the holleys but they are foreign to me,I never looked inside. the poor running was instrumental in my decision to sell it in 2004- bad decision. now its just curiosity.

fabbed in the hood scoop today to clear the tunnel ram..4 3/4" high unlimited products scoop..will do more tomorrow to finish,,scoop is bolt on.bond on,or rivet..bolt on for now and check for cracks...yes i know its not mopar but neither is it tech, gm..will paint edges and bolts black....and now i have to get creative on the air cleaners,,i have aplan for that also tomorrow..almost ready to fire..

The air bells are they quick fuels 10 5/8"? K&N 66-1101 filter tops with od trimmed down? Nice setup.
yes...trimmed down 3/8" on the bottoms and 1 1/2" on the sides to match the extreme 11" trimmed down tops...aviation tin snips made quick work of them...with the larger tops, its all air cleaner element for flow...9" tops would have bolted on but with alot less filter.

How far are the filters from the bottom of the scoop?

only 1 thats close is the front at foreword most passenger side leading edge, motor is factory tilted in car,,,appx 1/8" clearance,,with the motor plate, thats enough, but theres still more i could cut off the bell's before the filter would touch the carb,,
