I have another question for the group on my 65 build. Soon it will be time to drop in the 383 and 4 speed. What is easisest way with the TTI 1 and 3/4 headers?
On k frame from under with headers installed?
Put engine and trans in then headers? if so how do they go in? top/bottom?
My first Mopar build so many questions...

thanks

Dan

Should go in nice and easy, fully assembled on the K-member, from underneath. Plan on doing my '65, with the Hemi that way, God Willing !!!

if you follow my build you know that I am doing a clone of my parents 65 500.
Ruby Red Poly the eventually had 4 speed and 383 with two 4’s

Here is my dad with car in about 1966-67 at house I grew up in. I came home from hospital in it June 1968

New owners are nice people, plan to do a remake of photo with me
My dad passed in 95, great to show my son and wife who are both all in with project

Thanks for taking the journey with me

Man you have to build these old Mopars !! No aftermarket support for 65 b bodies

We have sprayed dash and a fender today.

The dash is a GM black we had some leftover paint.

PPG Ruby Red Poly with 2k clear, the photo doesn’t do it justice. Spot on for the 60’s paint color I was looking for.

Thanks for following along.

Dan

Making nice headway there on your ride. My 65 was ruby red too when new, prorkchop red since 80. I was able to see a much larger paint chip at the show in Van Nuys last month or the RR. I had been looking at some other similar versions but now that I've seen it on the big scale I'm going to go back with it. I did a lot of bobbing and weaving looking at this 65 when at the show. Looks awesome.

I found a local PPG rep to mix it for me in a lower quality base
We are using 2k clear which hurts the wallet but it turning out nice
Hope to spray balance of shell next weekend, just finishing trunk lid.
Lots of block sanding due to some old hail damage from a long time ago.

Hello
Can someone take a look at this steering wheel gap? My car came with A/M when I got it. Found a nice original but not sure on gap? Am I missing something ?

That gap is not right. Pull your wheel off, and see if it is hitting on signal switch or cancel lug. Just put it back on slowly, and eyeball if there is something it is hitting on. I had to do this after replacing signal switch and installing aftermarket steering wheel. Make sure you have the steering shaft centered (same number of turns left to right). Stock steering wheel has a blind spline, matching same on the shaft, so can only install one way. Aftermarket wheels do not have this, so can install anywhere on shaft. My guess is that the cancel lug is not oriented correctly, judging by amount of space.

Hey Dan, here's my survivor. That may not be the correct horn ring by that pic ?

I have a '65 Coronet 500 ruby red car too. Mine is an original 426W with four speed car. You are making great progress with your project. I'm on the other end of the project car scale. I've owned my car for over 40 years and I'll probably be putting it up for sale this year. Time for me to downsize and pass the project on to the next person.

Doors on and glass going in.
A big thanks to VanDan here on the board helping me with weatherstripping and grabbing photos of an original to look at. I hope to drive it by Labor Day as a shell.

Had to order the pilot bearing as I was struck by the 440 Source crank not being fully finished for bushing
