Exactly right! Love or hate, no matter which side you're on, that boldness in automobile design can be appreciated by all classic cars lovers. In current times there would never be a one year only body style. I dig the '70 Coronet station wagons too. Probably not too many of those were saved. You would get definitely get attention with one of those! The '70 Super Bee front end was a love-it-or-hate-it design. I was always drawn to it for it's uniqueness. Dodge designers were very bold and brave back in the day to come up with that design and actually build it. One car I wish I had was a '70 Coronet station wagon...with that same front end. I remember driving around in the late 80's in my Charger, seeing a little old lady driving one of those Coronet wagons, and thinking "Damn that would be a cool daily driver!" I saw a beautifully restored one a few summers ago at a car show in Red Deer, Alberta...Sublime green with the "woody wagon" treatment. It was gorgeous.
A decade before your car was built, I felt the same way about the 1960 Dodge Matador. My dad drove a '56 Dodge Sierra wagon in that era, and hated the 1960 Dodges.Exactly right! Does anyone know who the designer responsible for the '70 Bee/Coronet front end was?I saw a Pontiac styling drawing and the car was a dead ringer for the 70 Dodge Coronet, except that it had a Pontiac beak in between the two front bumper loops. Even the grilles we exactly the same. My guess is that designer ended up a Dodge and took his drawings with him.
Welcome Greg. I am also a new member. Just a couple of towns south from you in Toms River. Nice car! I always admired the Super Bee's. But I couldn't resist the 67 GTX 4spd. Plymouth's answer to the GTO.Hey guys,
Long time lurker, and new member as of today. I'm Greg from NJ. I have a 1970 Dodge Superbee V-code car that was new to me in 2023.
When I was a kid I was raised into a bowtie family and loved going to local car shows. I remember thinking that the 70 bees were the most unique looking front ends and I couldn't take my eyes off of them.
Thirty years later I developed into a huge Mopar fan and adult money eventually happened. Now I have a 1970 Superbee of my own!
My car is missing it's original motor and trans, but I bought it to drive, and it does not disappoint! It scratches the itch to bang gears and do weekend maintenance with my little girl.
That being said, it would be cool to find a needle in a hay stack! If anyone has eyes on my 0A154542 stamped F440 block or A833 18 spline 4spd please let me know!
Good to be here,
Greg
