Simple dream.... restore a 1940's Auto Dealership. Make it the largest icecream and soda shop this side of the Mississippi. I love live music and why not have some dancing. A large parking lot would lend well to having all my new Mopar friends over for a little car show... and a bite to eat.

Ok... Enough talk... I'd better get back to work...

I like the idea! We have a Roosters restaurant nearby that host a cruise in every Monday threw the Summer that draws in some really nice cars, I'd suggest doing that to help get them coming.

Gonna have burgers too? Sounds like a plan!

Sign me up - hand me the work permit for the US and I'll start building right away. I'd love to have an old school diner, sodas and ice creams and hand made burgers.... If you ever build it - call me :)

Have the best tasting ice cream and best food and your dream will have a happy ending. Good luck with your project.

welcome to FBBO good luck with your project and keep us posted

Build it and they will come!

I'm not sure where polecat hollar is but in the York, Hanover, Gettysburg area there are lots of classic car enthusiast. I had my eye on an abandoned service station in Maryland once, that had a real cool nostalgic look to it. Thought it would have made a cool diner/ drive in.

That's for sure, there was a really cool restaurant here in Ohio that was made to look like an old filling station but when you walked in it was a nice restaurant. It had the old signs, tables, chairs, juke box and all and even had the waitresses dressed in long dresses and pony tails. I absolutely loved the PLACE but the food was what you'd expect from the public schools, boiled burgers and so so fries. If you do it do it right.

As a native to Pennsylvania, I too would like to know where Squaller Holler is.

The first time I ever made home made icecream for the public was at a campground on the Missouri River... one of the 5 year olds critiqued my icecream as follows: "It's good'r than good" I guess all the research on making icecream paid off..!

"Quaker Steak and Lube"

Is built in an old gas station with large bay doors.

Inside has racing and automotive memorabilia.

Cute.

There is a micro/exotic beer bar in Tampa in an old gas station.

Live "alternative" style music.

Bay doors open in summer (..and no A/C).

High tops under the pump island portico.

I have a couple friends that run a repair shop.

One of them lives in it.

Waiting room/living room with large 6'x10'-ish glass panes.

Pool table

Comfy couch, dining table, oven/stove, fridge and bar.

I think I'll end up building from scratch, rather than tackle an old building with who knows what's been dumped underneath the soil around the work bay area. I'm a little ways off financially, but am buy'n lots of decoration...! Stay tuned.

As a native to Pennsylvania, I too would like to know where Squaller Holler is.

The story about Polecat Hollar and my anonymity goes like this Dennis and Mr HemiRebel.... back in 2001 I got real serious about "picking old parts" in the WV/PA/MD area, and when I would find a nice 69 Charger sitting on some forgotten hillside private salvage yard, I sorta wanted to keepmy general location a bit ambiguous. The early days of the internet were good times as there were bucco buyers, not as many sellers, and ePay was at that time a great place to do business.

Fast forward, and it's now 14 years later and I no longer frequent the back woods yards like I used too. So I guess I can come out from hiding and tell the world that I'm holed up about 40 minutes south of Carlisle PA. Now back to the topic.... true story no kidding..... there is a small back woods country road near me with a official green road sign that reads "Polecat Holler Road" posted on a metal pole.

( Note: the 69 Charger on the hillside was gone last time I checked... )
