Hi,

I just purchased my first Mopar, a 71 Satellite with a slant 6, almost rust free, a rarity in the rust belt. Looking forward to learning all I can about it and Mopars in general. Right now plans call for a V8, new auto with OD and lockup torque converter and lower axle ratio. Any other mods experience would advise?

I'm in the Ohio rustbelt, same problems as Michigan except more snow along the lake. I really like the 71 body style. Do you have drum brakes? An upgrade to front disk brakes is fairly easy using inexpensive boneyard parts. Add a V-8 and you might need the extra stopping power if you don't have disk brakes already. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome aboard. You don't see too many '71 B bodies with the leaning tower of power in them.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.

My 71 has drum brakes all around. Disc would be a definite improvement. Have to add this to the upgrade plans.

Welcome aboard! You'll be right at home here in no time.

I agree with the suggestions on a disc brake upgrade if you're going with a bigger motor ... you gotta whoa before you can go!!! :-D Post a few pics when you get a chance.
