You got the best setup there is...GOOD JOB
Thing hard about your gear ratio and get it right the first time.
If you are going to run tall tires go with a lower gear ratio ??
If you are going to mainly drag race it I would go with a 4.30 spool with 29.5x10:50 stiff sidewall Hoosiers drag slicks.
If lots of street driving entirely different I would guess.....

No doubt if it's likely to be a drag car, do the spool. A spool will work OK on the street for limited use. Tires do flex for this use. A 4.10 gear works pretty well, too much RPM for 70 MPH on the highway, but very acceptable around town. You will have major power, with CalTracs you are set up for mostly straight line driving. By the way I will be going to a spool myself, with the limited street use I do.

I made the mistake and put a spool in mine for a double duty car

What problems do you have with the spool & street use? Not sure what the pic shows me.

No problem with it I thought I would be doing more racing than street driving but turns out I'm doing the opposite.

Pictures is my new Dana and Cal tracs set up

I have zero issues driving my spool on the street. Have not taken it out during any kind of rain though. I'm running 4:56 with Hoosier Quick Time Pros 31X13.50. Dana 60 with Moser Axels.

In the rain we have trouble no matter spool, limited slip or open. My 500" Dana 4.10, BFG Drag Radials. Lights the tires for at least 75 feet requiring steering to keep going forward.

I just put cal tracs and split mono leafs on my car and I love it!! You won't be disappointed! Have fun!

We are doing a 4:10 spool with the 30" 295/65R 15 drag radials

Thanks Mike, we have done some calculations and are Going 4:10 spool 30" tire

The big motor handles a 4.10 pretty well. 4.30 for drag race makes sense. i'm surprised at how well my 4.10 with 28.5 slicks works. The 4.10 does keep RPM down. Good for durability in my opinion. Back in the day my Coronet used 4.89 & 5.13. My Arrow came with 5.38 for 1/8 mile tracks. 4.88 was what switched to. 4.56 would have been the right choice for that car. All depends on what you are trying for & how much you expect the motor to take.
