New seat buns

I had a pleasant experience today, I have a 67 Satellite with a center console, floor shift with bucket seats. The seat covers were almost in perfect shape, but the seat foam was trash, when I sat in it it felt like I was sinking into a black hole.

I bought some new seat buns from Summit and installed the drivers side today. Oh my gosh, the old foams was so ratty, totally shot. But after a good cleaning and rewired some of the springs, it is absolutely amazing how firm and nice the new seat is, haven't done the passenger yet.

It took me most of the day. I bought a canvas tarp from Harbor Freight cut it to size and used that as barrier between the springs and new seat foam.

So glad a did, it, what was once old and is now new...

We have a '73 Duster that needs the Driver seat done, same scenario. If you could, post a few pics of the items, and job, when you do the passenger seat, Thanks !

Carpet, with a good backing also works well, to keep springs from wearing through. Hog ringing it in place helps distribute weight across the springs.

Yeah, I thought of that too late, I'll do that on the passenger side. Here are the seat buns I bought.

I also have some high density foam, that I cut into narrow steps and filled in on the sides, what would be the seat bolsters. I'll take pictures next time. But as Aarons Air says, you really need something between the springs and the foam or the springs will cut into the foam over time.

That thin marine carpet that menards or home depot sell is perfect on top of seat springs.
