So here's the story.....

Dad had a 65 Belvedere II Convert back when he met my mom. He totaled it back in 69 or 70. I have a picture of him in front of the car in 68 in Akron, OH area. I've heard stories about the car for years. Unfortunately, dad passed 6 years ago, so I am going from memory and my mom's memory. 383 Big Block. 4spd w/ hurst shifer. Holley Carb. Headers (and loud exhaust). Bucket seats. Center Console. Red on Black with Black top.

So I found a couple of cars here a few weeks ago after looking off and on for 16 years. They looked restorable, so we struck a deal and I drug them home.

So the research started....

I need to verify a couple things. It sounds to me as if you could not get buckets and a center console on anything but the Satellite in 65. Is this true? It could be that someone swapped the stuff into dads car back in the day, or it could be memory issue with mom. It would have been nice to have a VIN # and fender plate rubbing to see what it actually had.

I started to inventory parts and am pretty impressed as to how complete things are. I even have some extras the guy threw in.

I don't have an engine and trans for either car, so I won't be doing a restoration per se, but more a resto mod. I want to add A/C to the car, and am trying to locate all the dash components for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Parts diagrams, someone that may have parts or what ever. Even a place to go to get a parts diagram would be awesome. I was in the Pittsburgh area last weekend and talked at length with Jim Kramer. We looked through some of his old Factory parts books and looked at some of the drawings. I Wish I would have made some copies, but that wasn't the most imortant thing on my mind that day.

Are there other years that are the same as the 65 as far as the heater box etc. I am assuming the dash is a one model one year only deal.

My next question has to so with bucket seats. Finding a set of frames with good seat buns is going to be difficult. So I would settle for bucket seat frames for now. What years interchange? Do seat buns interchange for other years?

That's a good start for now...

Time to get back out in the garage and finish welding together my rotisserie and finish the last part of gutting out the shell. Just a couple quarter windows and some dash wiring/heater stuff to go.

not true I have a 65 satellite and my car is a factory bucket console car, have a buddy that has a 65 belve too same there too. the dash I think is pretty year specific...as far as i know. the seat frames should all be the same in at least 63 to 65s I THINK. sorry couldnt be more sure. I do have an old 65 plymouth parts book for the satellite pm me if you could use a pics of it.

Brian,

I've been driving this 65 Belvedere II convertible since '65 so PM me with questions if you get stuck. I do have a set of stock upper and lower A/C vents if you're convinced you want to go that way. Enjoy the project.......

`65 Satellite

I'm in the process of restoring a `65 Coronet 500 which is basically the same as the Satellite except for trim. I'd suggest picking up a copy of the `65 Chrysler parts manual. They are available in CD form for about $40 and are invaluable for restoration work. The `65 service manual would also be helpful. Except for the trim most parts interchange between the Coronet and Satellite (both are B-bodies). I've got lots of extra parts left over from my project, including most of the AC dash components, complete heater box, vent actuators, etc. If interested, send me an e-mail with your needs to s------------------------t I hate to thow away any Mopar parts and will sell them at a very reasonable price. Also, buckets came standard on the Satellite.
Good Luck with your project.

My first NEW car was a 65 Belvedere II, 383 4-spd. Sold it when Uncle Sam knocked; bought another Bel II when I got out of the Army. Currently have this 65 Satellite. All Belvedere I's and II's were delivered with bench seats--the bucket seat/console package was Satellite specific on the B-Bodies. Good luck with your resto--this is a great site--a lot of good advice.

Bucket info

Input. The only b-body Plymouth 1965 with buckets and console was the Satellite. Dodge b-body had the Coronet 500 . You could get 4-speed without console in all other models but not floor automatic. Armrests are the same in 1964-65 hardtops. The rear ones are the same for sedans and includes ashtray. Cars with buckets have code P under T (TRM) on fendertag . P stands for "Premium" the others got M and L ( medium /low)

My 65 sport fury has bucket seats with the consel automatic. yes code p under trim on fendertag

I just parted a 65 Belv with A/C. Have the box, some duct work and the dash frame.
PM me if interested or if you need some referance pics.

First thing I'd do would be to buy myself a 1965 Factory Service Manual. Great reference for parts and assembly.

You are right, a lot of the pieces are year-specific, mainly trim. From the firewall and back many components were shared with the '64 Fury.

Best of luck with your restoration,
