I am replacing some gauges. I was wondering if I put in an aftermarket volt gauge in place of the stock amp meter do I just hook up the wires the same way? I just want to make sure the car starts and functions normally when I put it back together.

While I am at it I am thinking about replacing the wires that go to the volt meter. I have the Alt going to the master cut off already so that is done.

I see there are 3 wires on the old gauge. 1 red goes to the circuit breaker but I don't see any wires coming into/out of the breaker. I am sure a 10ga. would be good. 1 wire goes to the bulkhead(battery) connect. I think that one was black. I guess I could put a 8ga. wire there. I can't remember off hand where the other red one goes to but I will put a 8ga. one there also.

You don't hook up a volt meter the same as an AMP gauge!

Go here....read carefully. ;)

This shows how to correctly by pass your AMP gauge and install a Volt meter in a Dodge.
