Have just purchased a 70 RR. Really hate the large thin rimmed steering wheel. Want to replace it with a more modern smaller thicker rimmed steering wheel (and yes when I do I will keep the stock wheel). Been looking around at the after market wheels but have seen mention of replacement "Tuff" stock steering wheels. Have seen photos and they look just like a modern day smaller sport type steering wheel....can one of those be installed on my "standard" type steering column or does it need a "special" steering column?

Grant sells repro tuff wheels and the install kit is $25. Rubber grip tuff type wheel is like $109 plus the install kit. Leather grip is a lot nicer and $199 i think. I have an older grant tuff wheel and what i like about it is it has less dish than the oem wheels so the wheel isnt in your lap (just my preference). unlike other aftermarket wheels, the install kit keeps the wheel in almost its orig location ( some kits push the wheel a couple o few inches closer to ya).

my GTX came with a Tuff wheel. The steering column is standard. DSCN3638.jpg
