I've wanted to get a set of the original factory chrome valve covers for my 440 for a while now; I've always had those on my cars over the years and things just don't feel right under the hood until they're present.
None of the later-produced ones tickled my fancy and the crap Chinese ones available now are not acceptable, so I held out for a nice set of originals.
It didn't hurt that lots of you all have told stories of your experiences with various aftermarket ones over the years, either. That kind of feedback is invaluable!

I paid more than I wanted to and they aren't perfect, but they'll do:

The passenger one still has the spark plug wire holders in place and they're all set to go, what with the PCV grommet and the drivers' side tube for the breather all there, too.
Hope they are true and gasket up well!

Thanks, y'all.
I wonder how I would be able to tell how old they are? Verify them, as it were?

Nice score mopared. Do you know what cars/engines those came on from factory?

I've got a set of those in my shop attic parts stash. I think they were the originals on my '69 R/T. Came with the car when I bought it about 15 years ago.

Now you got me thinkin' about it, I might have to dig them out and get them back on the car just for kicks.

Thanks. :)
Darn good question...
I can remember some of the mid 60's wedge cars did and the '67 440HP's did, but there had to be more, right?

This is the reply I got from the seller when I asked if he knew where they came from:

Hi Ed,
The valve covers came off a '69 R/R. The man I bought them from bought the R/R new and had the dealership
put them on before he took delivery of the car. He took them off when he was rebuilding the engine and did not
put them back on. I bought them years ago to put on my '69 R/R I had at the time. I have since sold my R/R.
So, now you get them. Hope you will enjoy them.
Thanks and Take Care, Dean

If the story is to be believed, that would mean these are 1969 Direct Connection (or even factory Mopar) valve covers.
I LOVE that notion.

Nice covers. I'm guessing that the chrome quality is pretty good on that vintage.

Direct Connection would be cool too.

That's what I'm thinking (remembering?) too. Better chrome, thicker steel gauge?

Mine have NO indication that they are from Direct Connection. I believe they are the factory covers but of course can't prove it.

Yes, nice heavy chrome plating with no rust even after 40 some years, and the metal is NOT a flimsy lightweight gauge.

Yep, according to the sellers' story, that's exactly what these are.
I'll be very happy if that's the case.

They're here and yep, they're in fine kettle. Heavy rascals, just like I remember - and not a single part number or brand on them anywhere.
Is that the way they were "back then"?
