No brake lights dash or tailights 64 Belvedere

Just got this car and before i dive in i just was seeing if anyone has any ideas as to the problem.Headlights work high and low beam,signals work front and rear,but no power back for tailights,also no dash lights.Switch maybe?

Switch is a very common wear item, so putting a new one in would not be considered throwing money at the problem, you might need one anyway! Did your homework for ya! http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=ECHHL6571_0166867469&An=599001+101964+50056+2056049 Signals dont go through the headlight switch. Not sure of the brakes, but they shouldn't. Got a schematic yet?

Tail lights and dash lights are usually on a common circuit. Have you checked your fuses yet? I've run into lots of them with blown fuses. Brake lights run through turn signal switch on later cars, not sure about your year. I've replaced mine in my Charger once, did 2 in a 70 Challenger before I figured out why they went bad. I had corrosion in the light sockets behind the tail light lenses. Cleaned that up, no more problems. I would certainly check that area while you are running down your problem.

Yes, the brake lights do run through the turn signal switch. I know mine is touchy - sometimes they don't work. I have a new switch waiting to go in it when I swap my steering wheel.

check power at the bulk head connector i had a similiar problem with mine i checked the wire all the way back and found i had 2 broken wires back beside and under the rear seat i had a brake light and one turnsignal both taillights but that was the culprit i just traced power all the way back on all the wires until i seen a change with the tester and found where the problem was.

My '64 Belvedere received power for the brake lights, tail lights, and dash lights all from one wire. I lost them all one night as I was leaving from a cruise-in. I found the problem was the previous owner had replaced the stop light switch, and the wires came apart at the connection he had made under the steering column. Connected them properly, and all the lights worked again.

Easy fix guys,just a little corrosion in the fuse box,cleaned it up and good to go.But you still need to play with the switch to get the dash lights to work.
