No longer selling parts here

Pretty much every part I have listed here has sold in a reasonalble amout of time. A few tips to those such as the OP.

Post good pictures. Give good information, year, make, model, part description, Etc. Find a box ahead of time, weigh it, get your dimensions so its easy to get a quote for the buyer. If the first one passes there will be a second. This is not rocket science.

I'm still hedging my bets that he's expecting folks to send a money order before their parts go out.. but I've been wrong before...

Yeah, be willing to accept Pay-pal. I know if someone will only take a Postal MO I will move on. If that is their payment preference put it in the ad. I don't have time time to go stand in line to get a MO.

Paypal Vs USPS MO turns a quick transaction into a two week deal..or more! That said I still try to work with the OG's that can't handle paypal.

Where else could you post FS parts for free with pics
to a better target audience?
I usually sell about 50% of parts I list.
Time to sell off hoards of parts I will never use before it is too late!
speaking of that, anyone need a three speed wiper motor? Lol

I'm gratefull to all the sellers I've purchased parts from here! they all supplied great parts at a bargain price!
I have found everything I need, by by!

I am done here.
Been abused and F...... around too many times.
Tried to help out fellow members and continually get screwed.

Rule number1 in sales:
If a product is not selling, either the price is too high, or demand is too low. easy as that!
I have had great luck at FABO but mixed luck here. I had some '65 Plymouth stuff advertised here and didn't get a single response. I thought they were popular cars.

I will say that in my limited experience in buying from someone on a forum is that it I feel that you need to be really interested or need that part/s because once you express interest it seems like some feel that you are committed. The shipping this is always a PIA because if you want to buy something for a decent price and then shipping doubles it, it tends to make the "deal" less attractive. Typically, I will go to eBay first after exhausting people I know. At least on eBay I can get a sense of overall cost (cost delivered).

I think this is a large part of people's problem selling on forums. Some are not well versed in shipping and want to use what is the most convenient for them but maybe not cost effective for the buyer. Likewise, some buyers have no understanding of the cost of shipping and are put off by those costs thus spoiling a potential sale.

As has been said already, its a 2 way street and good communication is the key but that is a bit of a lost art I have to say.

The benefit to using here instead of eBay is you can put the eBay fees in your pocket or choose to pass savings on to buyer.
I try to keep to things that fit into USPS flat rate boxes so shipping is exact cost.
If I need bigger boxes I will go the auto dealerships parts dept. They usually have a free good selection of auto parts shaped boxes.

Agree totally. I have only bought from FBBO not sold, but have encountered great sellers. I get not dealing with money orders. No thanks for me too, in this day and age that is nonsense.

Although I agree money orders are pain to get, I can cash them at my bank

I've had nothing but good luck on transactions with "frequent contributor" members throughout the FxBO system.

Totally agree. The usps hereis a quagmire from Oct to Apr because of the snowbirds. Lines out the door. I have a usps account so I can print labels and drop off packages without waiting in line. Postal money order is a big no way from me.

I have sold stuff on here where the buyer doesn't use Paypal. I tell them cash or personal check is fine. We are a small community and have no problems trusting members that post and actually use the forum. I hope the same goes for me. :)

I have used postal money orders to buy tons of parts on here, with no issues.

It is the only other type of payment I will accept. I just sold an Nos Motor mount to a guy who doesn't have PP and he was happy to know I would accept it cause he really wanted the part..

it takes less time to set up a pp account than it does to go to the post office

I think it is really a matter of the time it takes. Some USPS locations are quick. The locations I have visited in anything larger than a small town are a nightmare! Depositing the MO is not big deal with smart phones and online banking. Again, I still do it out of respect for those that are uncomfortable with the technology.
