No one wants to buy my 440, what should I do with it?

Any ideas as to what to do with this 440 (1973) that I should never have bought in the first place? I have been trying to unload it on CL and this site without luck. I was going to sell my 340, build up the 440 and then drop it in my 69 Coronet. Unfortunately I bought it before I figured out the total cost of the build I wanted to do...

Should I tear it down, clean it up and then put it back together and try to sell it then? Seems like a waste of time to me.

Should I try to do a cheap as can be build on it? Not sure I would want to put it in my car if I went ultra cheap on it.

I think it will run as is so I thought about dropping it in a D100 or something else like that if I found one for $500 or less. However, I don't need another vehicle sitting around here.

Anything else I am missing? Thoughts on what to do with it other than turn it into a coffee table?

Is it a complete motor?

I'm debating building a coffee table out of a 74 block I have, needs a couple sleeves I figured no one would want it.

Yep. I'm not fond of coffee tables with two clumsy kids running around.

Hmm, what do you have into it. Maybe try parting it out and then scrap the block

I have a '67 440 block with cracks in the water jacket....thinking about a coffee table....or garden ornament.

I have an old Rallye wheel I am going to use for a hose reel.

It's called patience........ And try listing on more sites than cl.

Have any example of said sites? eBay is a no go for me. I have listed it here. What else is there?

Yeah don't scrap a 440. Any usable block should go for a couple or a few hundred bucks.

I will tell you that the day ''after'' you scrap it then everybody will want it.

Donate it to a high school shop class or any other learning institution. Bite the bullet and take scrap weight for it. Give it away for free to some poor bastard - you'll feel so good about being a good samaritan. Oooor stuff it in the back of the shop with all that other stuff you've collected over the years that you might need "someday" but don't know the exactly what day that is. P.S. anyone wanting the motor for free, or gets it for free, on this or any other forum, disregard the "some poor bastard" part.

I agree with the others about not scrapping it. I would strip it down and if it is a standard bore, pay $50. to have it cleaned and checked for cracks. The block and caps go for around $500. here. The crank pulley is worth 45 on eBay. Timing cover is worth a few bucks. Keep the valve covers and rocker arms and maybe the dizzy, and scrap the rest.
