So i just started to reassemble my 318 engine after a top end rebuild and everything is finally assembled and I turn the key, It sounds like its turning over but i checked for spark and there wasnt any spark. I noticed the positive wire hooked up to the battery was really hot and glowed red when i turned it over. Then the ground wire from the battery to the engine sparked. I took it off the engine and sanded and made sure there was good connection. Im not sure if it fixed the positive wire issue but it still didnt spark. What does this sound like? There are a few wires that arent connected that im not sure if they were connected before. Ill post pictures of them.

Heres the engine. Everything isnt hooked up in this picture.

This is a wire that was behind my coil. Im not sure what its supposed to attach to but i feel like it may be my problem.

This is the wire is running along the passenger side up to the condenser. One of the wires looks like it got clipped. Is it important?

This is a wire right under the coil. Its green with a brown female end. Does this go with the wire from the second picture??

Any help would be appreciated!

You could run for a short fire up a wire from the Battery + to the + side of the coil and see if it fires up. Also get a test light and start looking through those wires for live ones. An ohm meter will also tell you if any of them are shorted out

Okay if i take a ohm meter and put the positive to the wire and ground the other will i get a reading if it is active?

I dunno, sounds like you need a wiring diagram and some time troubleshooting it. Your pictures for some reason dont show.

Here's the wiring diagrams. Also, i guess we're working on a 74 roadrunner?

My bad I should have put Multimeter. Ohms will show you what is grounded with out power. Then put the meter to dc and turn the key on and see if there is power to the coil. Also if you have a ballast resistor check it as well.
