Tried starting up the new 440 I just rebuilt only to hear the sound of motor cranking. I have done an electronic conversion and all my parts are new, (which doesn't always mean good). Pulled the distributor wire off the coil and no spark. Any ideas???

What kind of electronic conversion?

First thing I would check other than stuff you can test (I.e ignition control box and ignition coil can be tested) is your grounds. I once spent over 2 weeks troubleshooting a non starting car (Would crank all day but not fire) only to find out the ground from negative battery cable to the radiator core had broken somehow. Once I reconnected that little 4 inch wire the dang thing fired right up on first try.

I did a electronic convertion once on my 65 361 coronet and used a new proform kit from summit. No start with that kit, just cranked over. Replaced it with a FBO ignition kit wired the same way and it started the first try. So I would not use the proform kits, but that is my 2 cents.

Is it an MSD system? MSDs are very prone to failure for no apparent reason I drove my Hemi car home from the shop last year and then went to start it 1 week later and had the same thing. The MSD box had less than 50 miles on it. MSD does nothing about it for you either. If I ever have need to change another ignition system it will be with Mopars high end box and a seperate rev limiter. The reason I went with and MSD6AL was for the rev limiter with changable RPM plug in chips.

I've done conversions going way back. Never had a problem with the Mopar kit. Can't say the same for the others. That's why I have the Mopar in my own car.

thanks for the responses guys. Looks like 74 satellite wins the prize. It was a grounding issue. no more pushing for me....Wooohooo!!!!!!
