I have been thinking about building an NSS car out of my 67 satellite and was doing some reserch on the rules saying that I must use a carter AFB or Eddy carb is this correct? I currently have a 440 with 440 source heads. trans is still up in the air, would like to go 4 speed but don't have any parts thus far. I doo have a Mark Williams Dana 60 w 40 spline axles and lightweight spool w/ 4.56 gears.any way I have been to the NMCA site is there any other info on the NSS program?

Nssracing.com is a great site and forum... I would swing by there.

YES you need to run edelbrocks or carters only and a crossram intake.

You can also use an inline 2x4 or 6pak,just no tunnel rams or sheetmetal intakes! You'll need alot of engine to use the indy bathtub pictured efficiently!

they are allowing tunnelrams now from what i have seen and heard. my 1st picture is a inline setup and the last photo is a offset crossram with not alot of cubic inches.

Have you been to any of the races? If not, you might consider that and get a good look at what's going on and then you can get a better picture of what to expect and talk to as many as you can about it. I gave it a good look a few years ago and was contemplating running C/FX with my 66 and saw that running it dressed as a 67 would have been a little bit easier because of the carbs that were available on the 67 vs the 66. Don't know if the rules have changed since then but you have/had to run the type of carb that was offered by the factory.....

thanks for all the replys, I did not know that the six pack setup was legal since it was not avail in 67. I think a tunnel ram might work and the EDDY's do well with that type of induction, what about the low rise inline intake offered by EDDY and Offenhouser? any feed back on those vs. the high ram's, I love the cross rams but the 2g price tag is a bit much I can think of alot better places to drop 2g's on the motor.I will check out the website recommended.

in our N/SS series it has to be multiple cars,In the NMCA group I guess they are allowing the tunnel rams and or sheet metal ones!Sorry for the confusion. In my personal opinon,Trams and sheetmetal aren't correct for N/SS racing! I ran an eddy inline this past season with 750s and 1"spacers,Best et 10:62 @125mph it was very consistent and very low maintnence!

Here's a link to the national rules...nmca, victory with a few differences use these....must be a single or dual afb....no sheet metal until fx...the low intakes will work to a point, my little brother runs one on a mild 440 in the Evil Twin car, runs 11 index....

I agree with Cranky, check out your local N/SS organization and see what there rules are. They are all different, some are stickt like NMCA and some are pretty lax like 422 Motorsports.

yea, you are correct with the carbs, the NMCA (which seems to be the standard rules that most series follow) says u must use carter or eddy carbs, and either a single or dual 4 intake. however, the single 4 intake must be a dual plane unit. i built my car to run NSS, but it became obvious that i couldnt afford (at the time) to travel to all the different tracks to run a serious schedule, so i decided to stay close to home and bracket race my car, i switch back to my M1 intake and sent a carb away to have converted to E-85. well i finished the season and pretty much made a promise to myself that i wasnt just gonna bracket race this car. so im changing back, im sending 2 eddy's away to get converted to E-85 and i plan on hitting at least 3 NMCA races and there is a local series that runs once a month. so between the 2 i should be able to fill a whole summer of racing, and all of it NSS. hopefully that means i wont have to race against any more cut-up **** boxs camaro,nova,monza,vega,mailibu,mustang..well u get the idea..lol. imo, NSS racing is where its at..its popularity is growing every year, and there are numerous series that are puttin on races. NSS racing is as close as i can get to running nhra/ihra stock/super stock, without having to be so exact with which parts are legal and which arent. you dont have to have a 50k race car to race, and thats what makes it so popular, it gives guys like us that loves muscle cars and this era of racing to get out and play. if you have any questions feel free to pm me here and i'll do my best to help ya.

Google Mopar Style. Almost all of the site is about Mopar NSS racing.
Back in 05 I got to race my 65 Belvedere I in St Louis. Dave Duell was still alive and in charge of the NSS class. A friend of mine sent him over to evaluate if I could run my car in NSS/E. We talked a little and he looked over the car.."The only problem I see is the single 4 barrel..Ya know what, we let Fords and Chevys run... Just don't open the hood". I was Hooked from that moment on !

Go to Dragracing on line.com and pull up the Victory Performance Nostagia Super Stock Series, you can get the full scoop from the head man himself!

Any of these organizaitions allow 68 or 69 model year cars in? My dad and I are planning on running my 69 vs his 68 327 vette. Would be cool to do it at an event rather than wednesday test and tune.

The only 68 cars allowed are 68 Hemi Darts and Cuda's.

Other than that 67 and older.

I agree.

You may find that it is quite expensive to prepare a competitive car in this venue. If you just want to race it is much cheaper to do bracket racing or just race the days that your local tracks have test and tune. Don't really care if you beat the guy next to you, just see what your times are and have fun.

I was talking with my son and he asked if his 74 dart sport was leagal and I said no. But while flipping through a issue of Mopar Action I came across the Mega Mopar Event and saw a 73 dart sport won the NSS title for the event. what gives?

have any of you had any experience with the offy 5206 intake? how does it stack up to the eddy 5440?
