Nostalgia Super Stock rules

Any of these organizaitions allow 68 or 69 model year cars in? My dad and I are planning on running my 69 vs his 68 327 vette. Would be cool to do it at an event rather than wednesday test and tune.

NENDRA allows your car
to race. do you go to Island dragway, we will be having 3 races there this year if your interested to have the best time of your life racing.

NENDRA is the only group that will allow the Dart,NMCA will let you run either muscle car or open comp,Victory Performance series only allows the 68 Dart with a hemi only.I don't know of any nostalgia orgs. out west!

So why is it they limit entrance to 1967 and older cars (except for a couple of 68's)? I would think they'd get more participation by allowing, say, pre 1973 cars or something like that. Gotta say, a little disappointed.

hope to hear from you with your 2 cars,we have a bunch of really great chevy racers too that you can hang with, and we all help each other.be there for 2013.

I too think they should allow cars from the early 70's in. however I do understand that the early 70's cars were no longer SuperStock cars but rather Pro Stock. I get that they want to keep it as it was in the day.

I have been thinking about building an NSS car out of my 67 satellite and was doing some reserch on the rules saying that I must use a carter AFB or Eddy carb is this correct? I currently have a 440 with 440 source heads. trans is still up in the air, would like to go 4 speed but don't have any parts thus far. I doo have a Mark Williams Dana 60 w 40 spline axles and lightweight spool w/ 4.56 gears.any way I have been to the NMCA site is there any other info on the NSS program?

With the exception of a NSS race at MATS in Vegas and a small organization out of California , NSS is nonexistent in Arizona. Where do you plan on racing?

The year rule has been hashed forever. Nostalgia has ended at 67(Except AMX,Dart, and Cuda which are allowed because they were factory built Super Stock in that era). The year rule is not going to change. If you want to run the class, the rules have to followed just like any other class. The inline Eddy manifold works fine in the 11.50 and up class, 11.0 might be tough. My friend runs a Belvedere with that set-up. 906 heads,.557 purple cam. Pretty low dollar piece. It's a solid 11.50 car. I'm shooting to run AFX. But I can tell you from experience, way more races have been won by 10.50 and slower cars than the quicker ones. Great class to run, a lot of nice people. I've been away for 10 years. New car is done for 2013.

as far as where to race, speedworld has been trying to add a NSS class into its nostalgia race schedule and they are working out the details. if not then I will build a solid bracket car. there are lots of killer MOPAR's in the AZ area and I think a NSS class would do very well.

Just build a kick butt NSS Car.
remember if you build it
it will come. Theres nothing better than a sweet NSS car that done right. You can still bracket race a NSS Car.
I built 4 of them for that reason.

Not true about the NMCA. Here is what they will allow in NSS:

• Dart/Barracuda: 1967-69; 383-440
• Dart/Barracuda: 1968; 426 Hemi

So your saying the track management is somehow trying to add a NSS class?

As far as I've seen, the nostalgia type races held are put on by 3 different outside organizations. The track itself has nothing to do with these organizations class structure.

yes, currently there is as I am sure you are aware of the southwest nostalgia drags, I was speaking with the track manager Hal and he said that the topic has come up and they were looking at the rules. I was also speaking with a friend who runs a stock eleminator aspen about how well he thought that class would do here and his responce was that he felt that there are many, many racers who would love to have an NSS class at the nostalgia drags.so if you are a local to speedworld I suggest you bring the topic up as well to any fellow racers who may be interested in participating.

I did not cover one topic, the track management has much more to do with the format then you might think. they have meetings with the orgonizers and give feedback as to what class's will bring in racers so that is where the topic has come into play. I am a sponcor of the track and am begining to push for a class for NSS cars to run.

You might want to get feed back from Mark Yacavone who is the co-promoter of the Southwest Nostilgia Drags. Ask him how the turnout has been for the legal Stock/Super Stock combo race put on at the nostalgia drags lately (And I hear there are some where around 40 legal S/SS cars in Arizona). Legal Stock/Super Stock association races do well in other parts of the country but for some reason not here. Take into consideration the class legal guys are a way different breed than the NSS crowd.

You say you are a sponsor at Speedworld and "begining to push for a class for NSS cars to run". My reply is, how many purpose built NSS cars have been built here in Arizona and under who's rules?

Do you have a format for this class? How tight/loose are the rules on engine choice, carbs, hood scoops, tire size, year range of eligible cars, dial in or set indexes?, etc. This class is very popular back east and in the midwest, but has been around for years. Each association seems to have it's own rules, no two are the same beginning to end. Here out west there is not much NSS, and overall we have a smaller population base than back east. Even the NMCA West does not run NSS or NMC at their races.

I think a Nostalgia Super Stock AND a Nostalgia Junior Stock combo class would be the way to go. More year ranges, big and small blocks, draft loose rules to keep costs down yet tight rules on hood scoops, tire size, etc. to keep the look a feel of the era. The NSS / NJS would open the door for more cars and participation IMO.
