I'm pretty sure that in '65' they likely took very few safety precautions and probably did spray like that.

I loved that song, I remember cruising my MW
car slicks and all and looking for street
races in 65.

Back in the day, we did Stupid **** like that and thought nothing of it.
When you're young, nothing can hurt you right?
In this day & age you'd probably be swept up by a SWAT team and be lookin at
several years in the "Gulag"
