Wow what did I miss, I personally think the #3's Childress's to do with what he wants, I was never a big fan of Dale Sr. or the #3 either, he was cohorts & buddies with the ownership of NASCAR's France family, a little conflict of interest in my eyes anyway... But he could pretty much do & say most anything he wanted too, others that did or said what he did on a regular basis, where reprimanded sat down &/or fined, because Dale Sr. was the face of NASCAR poster boy... IMHFO he was an aggressive driver, too aggressive, to put it mildly, he would spin anyone just to win or place better, that ain't racing IHFO anyway... There's a very damn good reason, he was called the Intimidator, he would drive right up you a$$, with little to no recourse from NASCAR's officials or their sanctioning bodies... He was a great driver, he was a 7 time champion too, that can't be ignored, but IMHFO he push his way into most all of them too... I can't stand Hendrick's grandkids spoiled rotten, checkers or wreckers driver, spending grampa's hard earned $$$, wrecking everything that they drive, so it's pretty fitting to put them in the #3 car... my $0.02 cents... The only # that should be retired IMHFO {it's an opinion like everyone has means nothing to NASCAR} is Richard Petty's #43's 7 Championships 200 wins just as a driver, many more as an owner, long before Dale Sr. & in a completely different era of the purpose built, one off track specific racecars we have now or in Dale Sr. era & King Richard Petty dominated, with decency or consideration for other racers & not just intimidation... His #43 should be retired when he decides to quit or is gone, if he chooses to have it retired, he was the last true great NASCAR Champion, in my eyes anyway... ok off the soap box now
