Looking at starting my first rewire of my 66 satellite. Non numbers matching 383 (1969) not alot of power options human power windows, points, no AC. Sometime in the future I plan to add AC and a ready to run distributior and a stero system (no Subs).
Looked at different wiring suppliers and currently planning on going with a Ron Francis set up. Although I have some experience with wiring I will probably go with a prewired system since this is my first Auto rewire.
Looking at the basic retro system 12 circuts (about $300) as opposed to the access sytem that has 24 circuts and prewired for a fan cooler (almost $600). Cant see where I will ever neeed the 24 circuts and hard to swallow the $600 cost. Anybody have an input on this issue. Am I making a mistake by not spending the funds upfront and adding alot of circuts that may not get used? Any help is appreciated.

Hi from a direlict over at A bodies. I would think 12 would be plenty IF

I discovered when I did a rehash, and eliminated the ammeter circuit problems, that a good way to go is a modern style relay / fuse box under the hood. You can buy them (Bussman makes em) This gives you a second fuse panel / relay box to run the heavy loads, like fans, headlights, and pump, with one for maybe? alarm? and one or two for charging and ignition. That way not everything is pulled off of one supply line going INTO the interior of the car.

What this does, then, is relieve some of the strain on the supply line going into the interior of the car, with some of the heavy loads being supplied from the starter relay, through the engine bay relay/ fuse panel, and shortens wiring length, etc. "Built in" improvements for headlights

I used a junker relay/ fuse panel out of a Voyager

Thanks 440 seems no one on the b forum has an answer. Appreciate the info.

I just finished an install of an aftermarket universal 12 circuit wiring harness in my Fury. I bought it from hotrodwires.com and it was less than $150.00. It has modern blade fuses, horn relay, flasher and emergency flashers. It was not as fancy as Ron Francis or Painless, but it worked fine as long as you aren't concerned with originality. The owner even answered his phone on a Sunday evening to help me with a question. Very happy with the results. I did purchase some extra terminals from delcity.com but the cost was minimal.
