I have a 1968 Coronet RT with a 440 and auto trans. It’s newer to me and I am trying to overcome an overheating issue when I rip around town. On the highway, it cools without issue. When I am hammering on it around town, it gets hot. I am looking to add a fan shroud, but OEM two-piece style are kind of hard to find. I found a few, but they just ended up being cheap knockoffs. I have one in order for the past 4-months, but they keep telling me it’s on back order. Can anyone suggest a replacement dealer/product?

I don't know why Chrysler did that. In '67, 26" rad with shroud was standard equipment with 440. '68 and later, it became an option.

Yes, 26” would be way nicer, but that takes a lot of modification to make work. Trying to keep the car as original as possible.

I can hammer on my 4 gear Bee all day long around town. 22" rad, fixed 7 blade fan and no shroud and it runs about 10* above the stat. Give us some more details on what you're are currently running...

Unfortunately, I just have stock gauges and I am not sure how accurate they are. It has never went over the 230 degree marks, but will at times in the city, approach it. As long as I am not hammering on it, temps seem to be okay. You may have just saved me a lot of money though, or at a minimum reminded me to check the coolant dilution level. This car was from CA which never freezes. I am a n WI which freezes heavy and I better not assume it’s 50/50 dilution. THANK YOU!

You can also get a clutch for your seven blade which is 50.00 at rock auto. Rarely will you cool well with out a shroud. You can try wizard cooling and check the impeller in your water pump 60 thousands max between back of impeller and inside back of pump housing. A little clay can help with this measurement

You missed what I was asking. What current radiator? What current fan? A fixed 7 blade OE fan cools better than a clutch fan all day long.

Yes, i just picked the car up a few months ago. I have put about 350 miles on it since I got it. I need to check a few things, such as verifying the water pump is good, radiator was flushed, etc., but it looks like the motor was redone, too?

For '68, all 440 cars came with a shroud. The automatics got the 22" with a 2 piece metal shroud. Upper #2417423, Lower #2417427.

Thanks for the numbers. I have one on order from Herbs, but they are unable to deliver it due to being ‘back ordered’. I have looked at a few others, but not the best of quality. I am looking for a recommendation of a good quality product.
