Oh my... another Magnum 500 thread... (sigh)

If someone bought a GTX in 69 what would it have left the factory with? I thought most cars left with painted wheels and dog dishes? Yes 14in.. I imagine?
Most I saw back in the day had road wheels as they were called, or full wheel covers. Dog dishes were less common, but were the choice of folks like the original owner of my GTX who planned on a non OEM wheel replacement.

I’ve owned seven stock 68-70 GTXs. One came with factory road wheels (trim ring magnums.) Two had full wheel covers. Two had dog dish caps. The other two were wild cards, with no broadcast sheet. The Hemi would have had full wheel covers or caps, 15 inch wheels. My A33 four speed car was a low option car, likely had dog dish caps when built. Wore Keystone mags in the 70s.

The 440 cars came with 14 inch wheels standard.

Without somebody springing for an extra-cost wheel treatment, I think it had dog dishes. And yep, 14s, unless it had a hemi. The hemi cars had a choice of dog dishes or full (very rare) wheel covers only. I think the standard tire was a redline. If I'm wrong I'm sure the GTX owners here will correct me.

White lines were a no cost option, red lines were standard, fiberglass belted became an option in ‘69. White lines seemed to be the choice for owners who were sneaking the GTX past the wife as an upscale family cruiser. The two I owned with that option were ordered by affluent middle aged family guys.

Thanks, so here is t centerlines I have, but on the left side I have about exactly a half inch clearance to the lip of the quarter panel, would you be comfortable with that? The right side has something like two and a half inches.. go figure..

My GTX came with 14" wheels, but now I wonder if they were road wheels or steelies. It was an ordered car as far as I can tell.

It was an ordered car, and appears to have had the same wheel covers on steelies that my Baby Blue had when new. I'll double check my broadcast sheet, and update if I'm wrong. When the GTXs were late model cars, I always scratched my head over how many had full wheel covers. Story behind my car, original owner was ordering a new Satellite, and the salesman bumped him up to a GTX, after pitching the automatic transmission as standard equipment. The full wheel covers were an ordered item. Many of the original owners of GTXs weren't trying to project a high performance image. Different group than the Road Runner crowd.

I checked the broadcast sheet codes further, and road wheels would have been coded 580, showing a zero instead of the numeral three your car had in section 58.

You've got em, I'd run em!

But then, my opinion is colored by the fact I have 11 pairs of Centerline Tool Centerlines. (No Chinese versions.)
Edit: I think you would be REALLY lucky to be into four new tires for $600. Last set of four I bought was $1000+
I got quoted $800 for four TRAILER tires last week!

Thanks, yeah that is for the coopers 275/60r-15s for $315 I think I see them on Amazon and I bought four 225/70r-15s for $235 (that I was going to use on the magnum 500s) and $100 for lug nuts but some I already have.. then I can get them mounted and balanced for $100.. I may be into them a little over $600 by the time I am done.. but its sort of close.. things just add up, and up and up.. These Convo Pro wheels I have are older models, that have been around a while. I assume they are not a Chinese wheel?
