Anyone know what the bolt torque should be for a pan with a windage tray? Seems my gaskets seep oil occasionally. Using stock cork gaskets for both tray and pan. I can see they are soaked is there a better gasket? Mildon 7qt pan

I always watched the gasket squeeze out while tightening the bolts. I think this is the best way to determine the correct torque and to avoid over compression of the gasket. Use a thin bead of sealer too.

I also prefer the cork gasket...Oil Pan Bolt torque 15 bolt size 5/16-20 , used a good sealant.....

Right now no sealant, just gaskets. It's more bugging me then a major problem so I will put that on my list of fixes :) permatex #2

I've always used Permatex (the brush on stuff in the bottle), but only to glue the cork gasket onto the pan, valve cover, or whatever. That way when I need to take it off again the gasket comes off with the part and the whole thing isn't stuck together. Use a straightedge to make sure that the pan rails are straight and repair if necessary. I guess that for me torquing the pan bolts is more of a feel thing than using a torque wrench. But then a drop of oil here or there doesn't bother me very much. You can always retorque bolts later but you can't uncrush gaskets.

I have had the gaskets squeeze out of there before. But I used too much silicone seal. Acted as a lubricant and ruined the gaskets. Now I silicone the gasket to the pan, then when dry I install the windage tray and other gasket. Hand tighten to snug plus a little more. Factory specs are 15 ft lbs, but seems like alot when using 2 gaskets they compress too much. Takes forever to get em to that torque.
