thanks all for info on my 440 in 65 belvedere swap. of my 5 oil pans none seem right as it seems i need a 971 pan. and they are not around. one here for sale but looks kind of beat up. vans auto sells one on ebay part#2465195 that looks like it is for 64-65 b-body bb 361-383. anyone think this would work? will it fit on my 440. and be similar to a 971 pan for clearence on the k frame. i don't want to notch my k frame. thanks

Lots of places sell pans. 440Source, Mancini, etc. all have pans for early b-body 440's.

Once in awhile a Moroso pan shows up. It's a 971.

If a repo max wedge pan is used, what oil pick up can be used? I haven't seen any advertised for max wedge pan.

If a pan will fit a 361-383, it'll fit a 440....

Are you concerned with the pan depth at the front, over the crossmember, or at the rear of the sump for tierod clearance? If you think a 971 will fit, compare the dimensions in daves69 post with the five pans you have. You need a shallow pan front and rear, front to clear the k, and rear to clear the steering.
For what its worth, milodon 30930 clears fine on my 62, but hangs at least two inches below the k member. I'm not worried, the headers will bottom out first. (Low profile (?), 7"sump depth.)

Crank, You surprise me. Not true!!
The early ( 62) pan for a 361 won't fit, as the RB crank has longer stroke and will hit pan. In 63 the RB pan had indents for the longer stroke and in 64 they were made deeper.
Recall that the only B body RB in 62 was the max wedge with its own pan.
