Hi

I was recently given a '78 440 from a truck or RV and was thinking of doing a rebuild and installing in my '67 Coronet HT. I pulled the old 383 out and was intending using that oil pickup and pan on the 440, (aesthetics only).

I know the car centre pan and truck rear pan and pick ups are different, my question revolves around the screwed pickup connection in the block. To my eye, the angle of the two connections looks different. I'm old and tired so it might just be another mirage.

Anyone know if the drilling/threaded angles are different between passenger cars and trucks?

Thanks

Not that I know of. Screw in your 383 pickup and see where it ends up.

It's the same angle so swap the pickup, pan and dipstick tube over.

Now swap the water pump housing and engine mount brackets also. Use the same radiator that way,

Pop the plug out of the block for the dipstick.

Thanks guys. Pick up fitted ok and pan on with around 4mm clearance. Remembered the block plug!
