I have a pretty worn out 318. It has been reading low oil pressure I still have the stock guage so no numbers on it. The pressure starts out high and after a couple minutes of driving gradually falls to the half way point. After about 10 or 15 minutes of driving if I am idling at a stop light the pressure falls all the way to zero and only gets to just under halfway if even that when i take off from idle. So what could be the problem? I talked to my local shop and they think maybe worn bearings possibly cam bearings. So any input is appreciated or if there is any way I can check to see whats going on

Take out the plug or oil sender beside the distributor and get a 45 degree NPT fitting and enough to go to a 0-100 psi gauge. Fit it up and start it up you should see actual pressure, this will at least confirm if your dash gauge is accurate. Then you can decide what to do.

Glad to here it David. This the way it's suppose to work, I love this place.
