68 Charger, been ironing out many electrical gremlins, narrowed down to 2 left, no horns, no dash lights. I feel once the new signal light switch comed in, i MIGHT get dash lights back?
Any way, something looks funny to me, see pics of the horn wiring. I did test the green with red stripe wire coming from the harness for continuity all the way to the horn button, and looks good. What makes me nuts—- shouldn’t there be a wire providing 12v to the horn relay?
There is only the green/red wire from the horn button which i believe is a ground. I don’t see any wire from any 12v source?

Power is LIVE at the horn relay on terminal #2 from the top and activated by the "ground" wire coming from the horn switch at terminal #3 from the top. + power output to both horns is #1 terminal at the top.

Every car I have in front of me, Black (or Purple) is power on #2, Green goes to the horns from #3 and Black with White strip is ground from horn switch.

OH, and your signal light switch isn't gonna fix your dash lights...

Look at the connector on the output of the alternator. Is there an extra purple wire attached to it?

Green hot

Do you have a FSM with the electrical schematics ? Do you have a multimeter ? Both will assist in your endeavor.

Nice paint on the relay mounting surface ....did you scrape any paint off to ground the relay base, or the horn first?

Yes, one of the first things i did, then checked continuity to ground

I have no idea what you mean by #2 and #3, as far as my dash lights, the signal switch is my last resort

I have no power wire connected to the relay, only the green/red coming from horn button

Pretty self explanatory, but H1 is a full time B+ power source. Usually from the back of the alt. H3 is the ground wire to your turn signal switch

When the guys say H1 or H2 look at FSM and read the wire labels going to the horn relay.
H1-16V (violet)
H2-16DGN ( dark green)
H3-18BK. ( black with tracer).
I can’t see from your pic the wire colors, do you have a violet in the group going to horn relay?

I have one wire going to the horn relay, it is green with red stripe. It is split into 2 connectors, one is on bottom of the relay the other it not connected to any thing. On the top of the relay there are 2 studs, 1 is perpendicular to the other. A double connector goes on there, with 1 wire going to a horn, and the other wire going to other horn. There are no wires connected to the alternator.

And notice you're missing a wire where the purple B+ power wire should be...

The gray connector that has two greens and a violet connect to the bottom of the horn relay.
Black to top terminal.
