So I have everything I need, and it is all hooked up. Now I have a new, odd problem. Sometimes (not all the time, of course), when accelerating from a stop, I get pushback on the pedal and it goes wide open for a second or two, then drops to normal. I'm thinking it has to be a linkage issue, but I don't see anything wrong. Anyone ever have any experience like this?

Thanks!

When you have a separated mount on the torque side, drivers side, the engine raises up and pulls on the accelerator cable. Kind of a chain reaction. The more it torques, the more it pulls. When there is no load the engine drops back down, letting the carb return to idle. Place a scrap piece of 2x6 under your oil pan and lightly jack up on the engine. See if your mount seperates.

Wow....interesting....and probably the solution. I can't think of anything else that will "pull" on the accelerator cable....hang up & stick open would be a linkage issue, but your problem sounds different.

It's funny you mention this. When I first had everything back together, I went for a test drive with the hood off, and I swore I saw the motor hop and twist to the right, but I've never been able to recreate it. Sounds like it might be my issue! I'll let you all know when I give it the check tonight! Thanks!
