When i first had symptoms, from my first tear, i went to my cataract surgeon. They sat me in an exam room, and the nurse asked what was the problem, so i described my symptoms. She went away for a few minutes, and came back with directions and an IMMEDIATE appointment with a retinal specialist across town. I never even saw the doctor , it was judged that much of an emergency, do not stop for lunch, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I was in the retinal specialist office in a half hour, looking in a lazer less than ten minutes after that.

I'vd spent $30,000 trying to save my vision, would have spent ten times that.

I said that in jest. Why? Because at 19 I had shrapnel penetrate both my eyes, lost the right eye due to optic nerve was severed. Left eye was severely damaged, I’ve had numerous surgeries on it and the VA still would like to do more. I’ve had enough eye pain to last 10 lifetimes.

So yes, keep your vision healthy at all costs. And when I make a remark about eyes being overrated, that’s my way of dealing with my disability and frustration that I encounter every day, every time I pick up a wrench to work on something.

I had a similar situation in that it happened at diner one night and the next morning I called for an appointment. When I got there, they checked me out and sent me down the hall to the retina surgeon. He laser welded the tear and it has been good for the last 5 years!

My buddy sometimes doesn’t wear eye protection when grinding and when I see him doing it, I always say “being blind in 1 eye and can’t see out of the other isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be”. Then the safety glasses goes on.

Right eye has been freaking-out. Had an eye-surgeon examine it on Friday, and today I see the retina surgeons. I have a small tear. I was seeing hundreds of tiny bubbles, and the DR said I was seeing red blood-cells. Very weird. I'm also seeing black threads, floaters, and shaded bars...which are all moving.

Mike, Best Wishes getting taken care of Bro!! I get these episodes called ocular migraines, coincidentally just had one 30 minutes ago. Vision gets all jinked up & distorted. Not the eyes themselves, but brain signals to the optical cords glitch. Episodes last about 20 minutes.

Just got back from the laser. Should be good to go. Just a few check-up visits to be sure. About a 100, millisecond shots around the tear. Thanks for the thoughts and concern, I appreciate it. Nobody knows what the future holds for us.

I've had many things get inside safety-glasses over the years. It always freaks me out.

Boy, the symptoms sound like macular degeneration of the wet variety.

I to believe Slap Stick was talking about Snake eyes. My wife has had an even more rare form of this that started at age 16. Your vision pulls your side vision to fill the hole in the center. I just bought my wife this new camera glasses to help with this problem. They're by a company called E-Sight. The latest in technology, but the cost comes out of your pocket, $9500.00, they started a few years ago at $15000.00. They are getting better and better and the price is coming down. The money sucks, but my wife has now seen me almost totally clear for the first time in our life's. Vision is a miracle and should be treated that way. God speed and prayers sent to both!!!!

Put a trailer hitch on a DD back in the day and drilled the holes wo safety glasses on - stupid um yes! Got metal shavings in my eyes. At the hospital later that night they dug out the shavings with a needle. Freaky um yes! Vision returned - but learned a valuable lesson about being stupid. Always wear glasses when you’re doing anything that can reach your eyes. Eyes are a serious business Pls protect at all costs. Hope your eyes are good bro. God bless!

When I was 19, I had metal slivers picked out of my eye with a tiny syringe. FREAKED ME OUT. Grinding without glasses......duh.

at least they have some answers for you ,severals years ago I woke up and my left eye vision was gone I went to the Cleveland Clinic 3 times a week saw just about every specialist for over a year Ive had some many dyes injected in my eye and hand they came up with nothing I quite going lost all faith,put your left fist in front of your left eye very close and look ahead nothing in front but a black area and you can barley see anything around your fist at all ,they have been trying to keep coming back since it became a waist of money $50.00 a hit every time for way to many doctors ,good luck hope the best for you .
