Opinions on Aluminium exhaust manifolds

Yeah, ask Pontiac about aluminum exhaust manifolds!! As mentioned, totally different world heat wise comparing pistons and manifolds. Now if you want to water jacket them like the ones on my boat you'd stand a better chance, but even then the water coming in from the boat sees those first and is always cold.

Well, do you think we're all a bunch of do maases? :D

Absolutely not ... some of the smartest car guys I've ever seen, talked to, or heard of

bunch of dang ol rocket scientists and i'm proud to know all of you Mopar brethren especially you Cranky :)

I can't find any information on line, but IF* the description is true, they are from the 60's. I can't make out the marking on them, but the petina and casting marks would almost support this.

What are the odds that someone cast some manifolds for a race team out of aluminum, then realized they wouldn't really work, and scrapped it?

It's a longshot....but it's interesting. They are either just cast in someone's basement, or they are ultra-rare, one-off pieces of racing history. LOL

*I can't find a grain of salt big enough...

The seller does not state they are from the 60's, in their other auction they clearly state that they are reproductions...made right here in the Motor City.

The part number seems to be '413426440P" (or B) which seems like a generic "fits all RB size" made up number.

If and when I find out more about who/when/why they were made I'll update this thread.

I personally would not touch them unless they came with a 10 year warranty, which I'm 99.99% sure they won't.

Indeed, man cave wall art or drag racing are their only potential use...

No doubt they're cool. Heck, I'm sure they'd work for a day of FAST drag racing. Heck, I'd almost bet one of those guys cast these. Better bring a spare set though. :)

That was my first thought too, MEEP, that a marine guy thought up these things and just left off the water jackets.
