Ordered Slicks/Rims

The Hoosiers seem to hold air pretty pretty good with out tubes. Just an idea... we use one of those portable jumper boxes with the air compressor in them. They are small, don't take up much room in the trailer, and do a good job when you need it.

Good to know they hold air good.

I have my small craftsman compressor in the trailer. Fits in the base cabinet. Like I said I am LAZY. I get to the track, check/adjust tire pressure and go. I guess I will have to just step up my pre race prep list so the car is consistant. The last car I had was ALOT slower(2 seconds). I guess the tire pressure just didn't make that much difference on that car. I was only messing around with that car and would like to take this car a little more serious. Anyway thanks for the advice on the jumpbox. I may just add that to my golfcart.

You're going to want to play with the tire pressure with these. Start out around 13 and go up 1/2lbs increments from there. You'll probably end up around 14-15 lbs. You'll want to run as much pressure as you can with out spinning or you'll kill the side walls.

What Kev says but start at 12.5 and go up from there especially when they are new.

Any reason for starting low and going up?
I always did it the other way. I did 16psi and dropped 1/2lbs until it hooked. I have also heard to run as much psi as possible without spinning; more psi = less rolling resistant

Here is another one for you. On my other car I ran M/T. I found that on the 1st run of the day I had to do a little longer/smokier burn out than normal. After that then just a mild smoke burnout so they were hot. SO, is this par for the coarse for most slicks or was I just imagining it worked.

You don't want to be blowing the tires off if you can help it. If you start out at 12.5-13 lbs, then you wont spin, only your 60' will be slow. And as you add air your 60's should get faster and faster until you spin.
Rolling resistance is only one reason for more air. The other is reaction time and 60 foot and tire life. If you don't have enough air in the tire the tire will crush the side walls when the car launches... that take ET and the side walls will be gone in 20 -30 passes
Start low and go high.

It's not often Kev makes sense. It's more about the cents!!

Listen here you evil rich bastard! LOL... I want my fair share! I'm going to write Uncle Baaarock and tell him I want your 65 A990 Coronet because you have more than I do. LMAO
I wonder if I'll have to pay a gas guzzler tax on it?

I run Hoosier 30 x 9 radial slick. I have actually been driving on the street with them for over a year. The letters stayed pretty clean. And mine hold air great without tubes. They held all winter without leaking down any. Ron

Well I got my rims/slicks on the car. I am glad I didn't go with the 29.5's because these FILL the wheel wells. You guys were right, the white letters look good.

One of these days I will get a picture of the car with the hood on it.

Are those draglites on the back?
get the red plugs to put in the holes your not using on the rear, next you got to get the matching fronts and ditch the torque thrusts. They are too heavy for racing. great for cruising.

I told you the 29's are a perfect fit.i think the white letters like awesome on your car.

Its just a good lookin car!!!!The car has a nice stance, and I have to admit the older dodges do look good with the white lettering. It gives it a nostalgia look I guess.:icon_thumright:

Never doubted you on the size Chris after you told me that is what you had on yours. I had my doubts about the white letters but I must admit they look great. They go well with the white strip.

Funny you mentioned the Torq Thrust/Draglite swap because I just told my wife that I was thinking about selling the Torq Thrust and getting the Draglite fronts. Sucks because they are brand new. I will list them and see what happens.

MOPARPOOR: Thanks for the compliments. It means a lot to me when someone tells me they like the car. It isn't perfect but I have tried hard to make it a head turner.

Wedge5 - That is really a nice ride!!!!! You did a great job!!!

I can see a Hemi between the fenders in the future. LOL

I would love to have a HUGE Hemi but way to much $$$$$

My 500 Max Wedge will do you now

Per your request Chris. I sold the Torq Thrust and ordered the matching fronts today. I weighed the Torq Thrust with the tires; 38.8lbs. I will weigh the others when I get them mounted to see how much weight I cut off the front end.

very good move. You'll notice your frontend probably will come up a little more believe it or not. Plus that torque thrust to different rear rim thing is old style and it really never did anything for me. I like the matching set all the way around.
That old school look was the poor mans way of racing.I think you'll like the all around draglite look.
Cant wait to see the new look.
