"Over $100k was spent".... Where did it go?

Nice but didn't finish the job for that kind of money... Too many details missed as mentioned.
Shame on them!

Look at the bright side:

1) its not a general lee clone
2) its been saved from crusher/returning to the earth

2nd Gen chargers are always a mint, they're iconic and cool as hell. Just hate seeing them in rusted heaps or as a '68 painted hemi orange with an "01" on the doors when it really should be a Bullitt charger!

On the other hand, where are you guys who demand perfection for low cost? Don't see you on the road or at events. Except some on trailers. There are exceptions of course. (Darius/Hawk) The shop that did this car may be the scum-sucking Chevy Shop that did mine in 88. Thieves. Whores.

$$$ spent to pay someone else to do all the work & $75 - $100 an/hr labor rate + parts + markup
400-500+ hrs & a bunch of expensive parts, $15k + for paint, I could see $100k in today costs,
especially having someone else do everything, check book builds are expensive...

"Exact clone" of the Bullit Charger. With a 6 speed... And pistol grip shifters came out in '70s.....

blew a lot of money on engine and drivetrain stuff. doesn't make sense to do that on that type of recreation in my opinion. after all it's just a "recreation".

with that price,
it looks like one of those gyc factory correct jobs!
sure it wasn't on tv? :monkeydance:

1). Barn find
2). over 100k invested
3) under 100 miles
didn't anyone have a chance to enjoy this car?

What caught my eye in the video is the amount of smoke out of the exhaust. Looked like special effects in a movie and it didn't look cold.

Nice car but not even $50k nice.

100K? No way especially if it has original body panels which they claim. No expense spared but couldn't buy a bell housing cover or detail the underside? Does look like it has nice paint atleast in the pictures. 6-spd with 2.76 gears? Why? Looks like a nice car but not for that kind of money. The pistol grip would need to go.

I like the Exact Clone comment when it's got a six-speed now. My buddy restored a 69 and I believe he has around $80k in it. Finished it 3 years ago (about 18 years in the making) and he did a lot of work himself too. But imho his is much nicer. As you can see he puts mirrors out so you can you how nice it is under. You could eat off the bottom side, it's so nice.

Hey! I drive mine too!!!

BTW, not that is a surprise to anyone, but I'll take Keepat's car over this any day!!!

We all KNOW one seldom gets out of it what they have in it. Has ANYONE ever asked how much a seller has in the car when negotiating a buy??? As has been said many times, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay....what is "in it" makes ZERO difference!
I'm sure I would get a lot of money for my car but it would never even come close to what I have in it.

I like it. Would like to drive it through SF. Doesn't the Richmond 6 speed mean they had to hack the crap out of it to get it in?

I thought the same thing but the floor looks original around the sides of the trans. Who knows what lurks right above the transmission. Maybe the T-bar crossmember was cut and rewelded?
What is with the 70-72 K member? How about those oddball lower control arms? I dig the patina on the axle. Just what I'd expect from a fully restored car, right?
The outer body seems nice. The dash and guages though ! Holy crap.

If the repro parts were sourced from YearOne....then my guess is that most of the money was spent on shipping.

Not a bad car though, I'd be happy enough to own and drive it,

LOL That's funny! Vangaurd usually asks twice the value for their Mopars. I'm not exaggerating.

Agree with about everything already said. No where near a professional job. BTW, those "new U-bolts" are NOT the correct type, they don't have the flattened, serrated section to mate properly with the axle tube. Also, appears to me that the front disc brake conversion is going to interfere with the front sway bar during tight turns. I believe those calipers should be rear mounted to avoid the sway bar interference. Many unfinished bolts used all over the car. Arm rests inside car have been heavily "leaned" on at the back of the arm rest. Of course, under hood is no where near correct.

Not a 100k job, just a BS job.

You have a great eye!

Nice car but not even $50k nice.

Me too, it seemed exessive. I though it would fade a little as it idled... but nope, the smoke kept coming

I guess it depends on what you mean by low cost, my build wouldn't be considered low cost by some, but on the other hand, I did as much work on it as I could to save money and get as close to perfection as I could. I don't own a trailer, so I drive to all the shows and cruise ins around here.

It's still a nice Charger. I've seen us ooh and aah over members rides and new purchases that don't look as nice as this car does. It's seems only when a car is put up for sale is it picked apart. Perhaps that's due to the price tag on this one - but I suspect if it was up for $40-50k some of the same things would be being said. I'd say the car is worth the $40-50k. Just an opinion......
