So I've done my due diligence using the search tool, but I have come up empty...

I am going to paint the plastic a-pillar and c-pillar mouldings in my car, but I would like to use a non-SEM-type paint. Reason for this is I have already painted the metal interior bits with a regular satin spray paint and I would like to use the same paint so it will all match.

I have the SEM adhesion promoter #39863 which I know I will need to use on those pesky plastic parts, but will a regular olde Ace spray paint topcoat adhere to the adhesion promoter?

thanks! :hello2:

I don't think you'll have a prob. on some parts like guide coat I use Ace rattle cans and have used in other areas.

Some paints that are not the correct interior paint will dry sticky and may be shiny or dull . I've sprayed a many interior with the vinyl paint and I wanted everything to match one time so I used reg paint and it was nothing but a nightmare i prepared everything correctly and some stuff came out sticky (duster would stick to it) and others came out shiny then some (same can ) came out dull . Good luck and let us know how it comes out . I don't use anything but really interior dye or spray paint since the last try without

A body shop supply store will be able to mix you a flexible paint and put it in a rattle can for you. Painting plastic sucks, I use the SEM or have something mixed myself, the pillars dont really touch anything besides the dash pad and headliner so a perfect match may not be super noticeable, I personally would rather have it not peeling, fading, or tacky than perfectly matching... I think I would rather redo the other parts with sem paint than use non sem on them...

Duplicolor makes a great paint specifically for plastic and vinyl. Ive used with good results

When in doubt try it out, I'd try it to make sure the 2 are compatible and won't shrink, bubble, etc on a scrap piece first but don't see any reason why you couldn't.
