Yes, I already know this is a stupid question and I'm opening myself up to scorn and ridicule. But should I dismantle a very nice car for parts?
I recently purchased a '66 Satellite planning to use quarters, doors, trunk and hood for my '66 Belvedere II, which I've owned for nearly 40 years. The Belvedere is solid except for the normal rust on the lower door lips, lower quarters, hood and trunk lips. I've already stroked the POLY with the help of the absolutely wonderful Gary Pavlovich. When the Satellite arrived I found it to be an extremely solid and nice car (Sorry, no photos, the car is a distance away and I forgot to take pics.) The 383 is missing, I knew that when I bought it, but I have everything else. Nice interior, with some reupholstering, and all the bright work is there and very nice. Oh, and tinted glass and power windows. The fellow doing the body work refuses... kinda, to take apart the Satellite, and I agree... kinda. He says he can fix the Belvedere - metalwork vs. parts swap - but it will cost me a little more. I imagine I can handle that. What I'm really wondering, except for the obvious 'why destroy the Satellite', is the value to the MOPAR community. Would it be better served to rebuild the Satellite to daily driver quality, after the Belvedere is done, or use it to supply parts to others in need. Would be nice, though, to have a Belvedere AND a Satellite.

save the satellite, amd will have the 66-67 plymouth B body line out real soon.
Definitely save the Satellite, but I don't know how soon on AMD. I have a couple of parts cars that may qualify for your needs, but I'm in Alabama.

What you are suggesting is the kind of thing that we used to do in the 80’s when you could get parts at junk yards.

The supply has dried up and the hobby has evolved.

I wouldn’t sacrifice a nice car these days.

A 66 Satellite is a fairly rare car. If you part it out mine is worth more.
Maybe try and find another donor candidate and sell the Satellite?
Or switch projects?

Other than your own sentimental value on the Belvedere, I don't see a reason to cut up the satellite and use it for parts over the Belvy......neither cars are huge money cars or super rare, so you are better off keeping the satellite as a whole and not cutting it up. If you were cutting up a 70 barracuda for a hemi cuda I would say maybe otherwise(but even then), but it seems like a huge loss and a ton of work for sentimental value. I get it, but probably better off putting the cash into the solid car and playing with it vs chopping it up.

Thank you to all!!! Your replies validate my feelings about cutting up the Satellite, and the bodyman too. My thought was perhaps it could be better used to help others complete their projects. But there doesn't seem to be anyone crying out for these parts. So now comes the search for a nice 383. Thanks again.

but how many with 383-4 and PW?

not too many I bet.
For sure, very few would be the correct answer.
Now how many of those still exist with all the trim (there is a lot of it) one year only.
You are down in the hundreds I would guess.

jerry, AMD assures me that by the middle of next year that line of panels will be out including full quarters, trunk extensions, and outer wheel houses. i hope so cuz my GTX is on hold till then.

Do you have lower control arms and torsion bars for a bb car along with the torsion bar cross member?

Lower control arms are the same on all of them with the exception of the sway bar tabs and they can be added. The torsion bar cross member is the same on all. Only the torsion bars vary between engines. I have a 6 cylinder Belvedere II 2 door, a 67 Belvedere II 318 4 door car, and a 66 Satellite 2 door possibly was a big block car, I haven't looked. All have decent quarters, or should I say usable and all are still rollers. PM me if one or more fit your purpose. I'm not going to cut anything apart unless it's something that I'm going to personally use. I will sell removable parts or as a roller.
