My spouse sent her old passport to be renewed to the Guadalajara U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara (we live in Mexico now). Well, they returned her old passport without issuing a new one-the note enclosed said her signature was not similar enough to what it was ten years ago. Now have to do the paper work all over again. Yikes!

Well, they sent the old passport back, so anyone can "copy" the signature now. I wonder why passports don't include at least a thumb print? Silly when you think about it.

Strange: My wife has her dual and had to fly down a few years ago to renew her Mexican one. Luckily it went well but is a major pain to keep up. The way Canada is degenerating though we want to be able to buy property down there in the future if things up here don't straighten out.

Well, there should be a better way to verify someone’s identity without relying on something that can change over time, like a signature. :popcorn2:
We just can't afford that technology.... So lets throw barriers in the way of those who choose to obey laws but throw the gates open wide for those who choose otherwise....

If your an American with money and kids, there are better places to live. No thanks. Trade Mexico for Canada, you have no idea.

You’d think! Someone told me once you never sign your signature exactly the same twice. I know I’ve changed the way I sign my last name noticeably in recent years.
And I heard that kids don’t even learn cursive writing in elementary school anymore, how will they sign their names on official documents in the future?

I've signed my name dozens of times and I've never had a title company tell me that doesn't look right. You're right, at least with the dealings I've had.

So I guess you could sign your name funny on a mortgage, then tell the bank that wasn't you and 'I don't got your money!'

At least they didn't tell her she doesn't look like herself anymore.

They could start using nose prints for verification. People that know cursive will eventually have their own secret code.

Similar to how the pool of potential thieves gets smaller every year for those of use who drive cars with three pedals!
